
Dear Skunkworks, Is it true that the mecer warranty center don't change faulty parts on their warranty machines unless they are completely broken down. I have a case where my clients pc has squeaking HDD and dragging as you work with it..for the computer fundis bet u know what that means.. was sent to the center which they ignored ..as in awaiting for hdd to crush then to replace which could be 6 months from now hence warranty void.. has anyone else encountered such a a case. have been selling and marketing their pcs coz of the 2 yr warranty clause..... Hi Chege, So far i haven't had that problem with their machines have u discussed the issue with your account manager? If so what was the response. As far as i know their warranties usually cover manufacturing defects and in your case assuming there were no provable incidents hat would cause that it should be covered, unless i'm mistaken. If you look at the way warranty works, with regards to Apple in particular, the costings come about when you : 1. Buy the mac from Regional offices, in most cases, you don't need to pay anything for warranty and will be cleared regardless. The only setback might be delay in spares arriving. 2. If the Mac is bought from an intl. source, it costs us to bring the parts in and costs labor. The freighting cost and labor cost is what we then charge our clients.
