Safaricom systems are stealing from us.....
Hi friends, Note:Am not here to fuel price wars. Last evening i loaded credit of *50/=* to my Safaricom line and made two calls to Safaricom numbers and sent two long SMS. I also minimally surfed on my phone browser. The summary is as below. (Between 8.20pm and 9pm) Call1 55/60 * 3 = 2.75 Call2 107/60*3 = 5.35 Surfing = 3.00 SMS 2*2*3.50 = 14.00 Total = *Kshs 25.10* On dialling *144# my balance reads Kshs 2.40. My question is, where did my Kshs 22.50 go to?? Somebody please help out here....this could be happening to many kenyans. Its about time all customers were mandatorily given copies of SLAs. Kennedy, I am also not here to "fan the embers" of the price war fires [if I may wax lyrical a bit ;)]. But I have noted from several people's tweets and facebook status updates that there seems to be some anomaly with Safaricom's billing. I am yet to get any communication from Safcom regarding this matter (whether they are aware of it or not, but I'm 99% that sure word must have reached them about it). Since this price war began, I really don't understand what the matter is with Safcom. They seem to be doing one blunder after another. I haven't been following up on how they're billing me on my phone (I'm not even sure what tariff I'm on), so I cannot tell whether or not it has happened to me as well. But I have been hearing complaints - that I can confirm. Hope someone does something before Safcom gets reduced to an ISP. Me. Does this explain why some people get credit increases and other can't dial nor sms yet they have credit? Do they mean differences in latencies did result in errors in the billing system that have propagative effects on subscribers accounts?? What would make more sense is having delays in a particular subscribers' account, whether its MPESA or airtime (including okoa jahazi). Phewks!!! There was a system glitch with a new data billing system that we are introducing into the network but I believed all the problems were resolved. I will ask my team to check this specific issue (there may be more) and sort it out.
The new system is called PCRF (don’t ask) and is working well in all other installations but apparently there were two key issues (one of latency between systems and another an previously unknown Linux bug). We have resolved these issues but there maybe some back issues still being dealt with.
