@Brian, I've tried to activate the data bundles on Airtel but at some point it stops and doesn't complete the operation. How did you activate the bundles? (Though it clearly doesn't activate/use them so what is the point?)

I already had a bundle before they officially launched the 3G service. For me that was the point where everything stopped working. On Thu, Mar 8, 2012 at 11:26 AM, Shiro Njagi <sheeroh@gmail.com> wrote:

I think it has something to do with outsourcing everything. Outsourcing may be great in theory, but it hardly ever works as well in real life. Especially if you outsource to underpaid call center workers. You can outsource a lot of things but it always a bad idea to outsource customer service. Many large corporation like Apple outsource a lot of their operations, but keep a tight leash on customer care.

@Shiro Are you using *111# or *544#? I was using *111# was giving me a similar problem but *544# doesn't On Thu, Mar 8, 2012 at 11:37 AM, Philip Musyoki <pmusyoki@gmail.com> wrote:

of course Queen Bee is the primary network, but in these days of ships anchoring anywhere, you need secondary and tertiary networks, just in case aeroplanes decide to also land anywhere also, given that i tend to get promotional SMS instead of system notification alerts, i prefer to keep seperate data and voice lines. When your bundle runs out, they can etch into your credit and also mobile money

Isn't that common of human nature? Don't blame customer's high expectations. When you create hype, you must be prepared on the backlash and accolades that come with it. Strange that complaints I made last week bordered on issues blamed for the network failure. If companies tracked customer complaints, they might pick up issues earlier in the curve. However, some customers just like complaining, I mean, other people have this issues and they do not complain, kwani what makes them special?

I agree with Bernard, of course these firms create hype about their products then when something goes wrong, they expect their customers not to complain. Of course things go wrong but adequate information and SOME kind of customer care would go a long way. It would be great if users would be informed of outages when they are happening instead of leaving them in the dark wondering what's going on. Even a simple text saying "We are experiencing outages due to bla bla bla" wouldn't cost much, since they are only so willing to send those promotional texts anyway.

I swore never to respond to any of Aki's posts lest I be called a moron or some other thing. I might know a thing of two but then... On Tue, Mar 6, 2012 at 6:26 PM, Solomon Mbũrũ Kamau <solo.mburu@gmail.com>wrote:

I just wish Airtel'd be more friendly to its users... A bit of info, keep longer hours on the twitter platform and tafadhali, do a bit of basic training for the guys on the Customer Service Front.
