David, I do agree flash does add up some user appeal to a site. but as we have experienced some developers over using flash on and making the loading period a bit slow. i would advice anybody who is in love with flash to try and consider other channels like using xml for example to load the heavy files rather than embedding the images/files in one flash project. also ajax or creating small flash projects that have a calling to one. Am sorry but the design looks to flat and because of the current times and technology, it also falls under the unprofessional category. Can it tell us who has not asked any questions Can it tell us how many bills are outstanding and who moved them? Can it tell us who votes yes and who voted no for the censure of Amos Kimunya? This is precisely the thinking I think we MUST challenge the ICT board and indeed the government as a whole to change. I will not be impressed by the police site no matter how much they use flash and ajax and pictures until I can search the database to see if my missing rela has has been arrested and where he is. We need to move from the era of websites with mission & vision of & photos to the era of *service portals* where citizens can actually get not only information but actual service. And set a standard for those of us doing game dev, mobile dev and desktop dev. If you were hired to revamp a site, then you have done your job. If you were hired to create web tools and applications for the site, then create long term goals and get paid and get it done. Infact, the next tea party and exchanging of business cards should be done for kenyan web devs and ICT board should consider diverting funds it uses to market almost non-existent sectors to sectors that deserve it. On opening that site, I found myself instinctively opening the Members of Parliament<http://www.parliament.go.ke/parliament/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=88&Itemid=87>page to see the qualifications my MP has, I was a bit let down coz the table there, though usable, is too plain! Spice it up a bit, put on some alternate row colors, the table border could also be made a little bit better. Also, the link for viewing the MP profile aint working.
