@Areba, I think they should have used other means to get the youths which they are trained for. I believe respect for any place of worship is a fundamental human right and should not be bulldozed by any govt agencies. Govt agencies should be doing their job in the first place so that any trouble can be quickly isolated and dealt with. I see your reasoning. If i was in that situation and had a gun, i would have been very tempted to use it but doing so would have been unreasonable. A different perspective; I think you can be accused of impunity for letting that youth get away with that crime, similar to a sin of omission.

@Peter, I did stop and inform the cops of the problem when it was safe for me to do so and I'm not saint for the problems. Mirrors can be replaced, not lives. You and me are civilians. The gsu guys are trained for crowd control and the rest. They can reason better in very stressful situations. Flushing anyone out of houses of worship is not an answer. Let there be a peaceful stand off and a solution, kifua being the very very last option..... :-)

I think the whole problem goes down to the security people who frequently come short of containing situations and as such things get out of hand. At this time, all that damaged property and loss of life is due to lack of tact and ability to maintain law and order. Heads should start rolling if I were in the security docket. That image in the standard says a lot. If the guy is on some wanted list, what is stopping him from being "handed over"? There is no point of saying he is on some wanted list then do nothing concrete about it and leave its effects to become a KE "public opinion" problem. At the same time, the KE security guys are trained on these matters, so why does no one have a solution? Typical approach : Let the problem incubate, then try and fix it with short term solutions. Sad that the temporary solutions come at the expense of loss of precious lives, property and peace. .... outta here. :-)

AKI I was there and the police were very mild.
