Andrew and other good people, I'd advise that you at first try out as many aspects as you can-the skills tht you gain will be valuable, then you can narrow down to what interest you. While still at it, am working but now seriously looking for a job, after joining a certain organization as an IT assistant 3yrs ago with a degree in software eng. My main concern is increased responsilities that are way off my career line-operations mgnt, fleet management, and even estates..pursuing an MBA(MIS) Looking for a position of a systems admin now, where I'l be challenged, but grow careerwise. Any Links will be greatly appreciated. Morning all.. Thank you for the feedback, greatly appreciated. Geoffrey I'm quite good at Web Programming although my greatest strength is in the Business units. Patrick I have done that however what I'm looking for is between the three options which one has more opportunities in the market and is under more demand like what you did... Dan its just that I would want to pick a course that is unknown or is limited to one field... Thanks again for this. On Thu, Apr 18, 2013 at 9:33 AM, dan wanjohi <nadwanjohi@gmail.com> wrote:

It is this argument that I think is deeply flawed. Most guys out of college do not know what they want in life especially those without proper guidance. All they need is a job to start with. Again a good percentage of people we refer to as successful had to dabble with several things before they discovered what they are __really_good__ at, what people refer to as passion. To be objective, look at all fields especially those outside I.T. Take the instance of Tim Berner Lee, a particle Physicist<http://info.cern.ch/>who invented the World wide web at CERN. Forgive the bias. I cannot remember where I read this, but the above factor "Follow your passion mentality the rest will follow" is what leads to a lot of frustrated individuals at the work place. We from the "generation Y" feel we are entitled to a lot (big jobs, pay, cars, houses, etc) from the "would out there" since this is what our education system instills in us. I think this also leads to the highly consumerist societies we have now. Feel free to differ. Martin.
This is crisis we have in upper institutions of learning. Mine was IT, Physicist then Accounts in that order. Prioritize yours as well as you will pray to God. Am still in ICT though and not done phy or acc.
Wilson./

Free advice,
Follow your passion [opportunity will come], not job availability.

First thing...Get to know what you really want to do. then select a place to go, both Strathmore and JKUAT have BBIT but with diffrent strenghts. Strathmore is quite goods with business units - it has a long history with accounts and the link while JKUAT would be better technically. Andrew and other good people, I'd advise that you at first try out as many aspects as you can-the skills tht you gain will be valuable, then you can narrow down to what interest you. My main concern is increased responsilities that are way off my career line-operations mgnt, fleet management, and even estates..pursuing an MBA(MIS) Looking for a position of a systems admin now, where I'l be challenged, but grow careerwise. Andrew follow your heart. I have a sibling who had a dream to be in VETERINARY World.JAB gave him a course in Business field. He decided to drop it and pursue his interest. He is on parallel program now. That is his dream. Ask yourself this question for free and mark it yourself. "Why did you pursue the Diploma Course." Meanwhile I sip my drink. For some bad advice "It doesn't matter what you do, but to increase your chances juggle"
Some better advice : "Talk to people who have done BBIT and are employed(Both in business and IT capacities). Next: Imagine yourself doing that for eight hours, 5-6 days a week."
Ps. I followed this advice. And now am an IT guy and loving IT.
