Okay, because of the (un)Limited fiber cuts in .KE (I mean the KDN and KPLC Fibers between NBI and MSA) are all ISPs down except those that use Telkom links? And now that we are at it, what happened to the NBI-GRA-MSA redundant fiber? Some ISPs are billing agents for others, when KDN is down, Accesskenya is always down...its beats logic having the two links as alternates...for me one(weaker one) must go Regards Jared Koyier On 14 March 2012 11:36, samuel Antony Mwangi <samumwangi@gmail.com> wrote:

It boils down to how much you are willing to pay for your connection. There is a reason why safcom charges high rates. And we now know why. That is because most ISP's cannot twist their little brains around the concept of KIXP and keeping local traffic inside Kenya. I bet the response from most of them on this would be "huh? what?" On Wed, Mar 14, 2012 at 12:30 PM, gisho <gichuhie@gmail.com> wrote:

Traceroutes are on and off. In some instances despite traceroutes working, browsing, skype, etc are timing out.
Anyways what to do?

@Simon, Are you kidding me? I was making a bad joke with my statement about MSA being up and NBI being down? So is it real that all these providers have Data Hubs in MSA and so nothing at all goes through NBI and as such any fiber disconnections between the two towns don't affect the folks at MSA? Okay, I need a KSM-Sudan-Djibouti fiber link. Where is Raila? :-) On Wed, Mar 14, 2012 at 13:15, Simon Wainaina <swainaina@gmail.com> wrote:

I don't get this balooo.... Networks cost money. Internet as a service has never been guaranteed. Your job as a consumer is to find out from the service provider based on your service needs how well their network is done, is it redundant, is DNS properly distributed? Etc etc. Or pay for dedicated point to point services and ask and pay for an SLA. While this could be an awareness issue, you still in the end get what you pay for. I like safaricom in this case because I know how far they go to ensure people have good services. Even when its bad, i know how badly people feel and work to get things sorted. Scan this list and notice apart from someone with an issue on the last mile, they had some level of service during this outage period. No one will ever give an SLA to the 'Internet'. If they do they'd be lying. You however can diligently get and if you ask a good ISP will explain their network in detail. The same logic applies for any service like cloud etc. ask questions or get/pay someone to ask them for you:-) Gitau Sent from my iPad On 14 Mar 2012, at 16:14, Odhiambo Washington <odhiambo@gmail.com> wrote:
