Dear Skunks, I have created a web service to manage sessions for a USSD application. What is the process of taking it to production? Precisely, can I acquire a short-code directly from mobile service provider or do i have to get that from a PRSP? Second, if I have to use a PRSP do I have to host the webservice with the or can I host it at my own server? Kindly advise. Kind regards -- * To follow the path: look to the master, follow the master, walk with the master, see through the master, become the master.* *- Zen Poem*

Hi. PRSP is the only licensed party to use short codes for public / commercial applications so you have to go through one or get a license. You can host the web app yourself as long as you build the web service for it that will connect to the PRSP gateway which is a http API web service (GETs and POSTs). You will need to have a CSP licence from CCK inorder to get a USSD code. Then theirs the setup costs etc. Its easier if you use an existing PRSP. They will apply for a test bed on your behalf. Requests from the mobile subscribers will be routed to your application thru the PRSP already existing network with Mobile network operator. They can also host the application for you .i.e. the PRSP Finally, if you are satisfied with your application you can move it to a LIVE USSD code. https://www.africastalking.com/services/ussd http://www.mobileplanet.co.ke/ http://www.siltechsystems.co.ke On Thu, Mar 6, 2014 at 3:59 PM, Dennis Mureithi <peterd.mureithi@gmail.com>wrote:

Hello Dennis, You will have to get the USSD shortcode from a PRSP. After which if you are going to host it on your own servers you will need a p2p link to safaricom. They will have to create for you a test bed for a month before going live. During the test bed phase they will give you some temporary shortcode to do the testing and ensure everything runs smoothly. Hi, Which ussd emulator can i use when developing an ussd app before i get to the point of contacting a prsp?

The API used will vary from one operator to another. Talk to one Joe Mwirigi who's on this mailing list; he was kind enough to develop some simulator for the major local Telcos. While at it, please check the list archives for a discussion thread titled:* "USSD Applications"*. It was posted on 27th Jan 2015. Tony. .

you can try it over Telegram with their new bot API or test it old style like am doing with this number on Telegram 0731707070. Just chat with it and it will return an interactive "USSD" like menu. On Fri, Sep 25, 2015 at 10:57 AM, Peter Muchemi via skunkworks < skunkworks@lists.my.co.ke> wrote:

Gisho, Wow! How did you learn about that telegram bot? Who built it? Do you know of other such like bots? Kind regards, Joseph On 25 Sep 2015 1:18 pm, "gisho via skunkworks" <skunkworks@lists.my.co.ke> wrote:
