I have a Samsung 3D Blue-ray player I won in one of their promotions. It's got WiFi/Ethernet connections, Apps, Allshare which I can access on the TV. I can painfully browse the net using the cursor on the RC (Remote Control) but I must say I see no real value of those being on TV. Maybe I am just old school, but a TV should not take the place of a computer. So soon, you'll have a mouse communicating with the TV? Well, your choice of 60k does not have this, IIRC.... so maybe you should wait. I can only advise you to think of a TV as a TV for now if your _primary_ consideration is "digital". @Moses, Thanks for the uncalled-for compliments:-) I Think you can make this choice yourself by looking at the various options CCK recommends. Personally, I'd Go-ogle for the features each of them comes with so as to make a decision. Price comes last. CCK has a long list dated Nov. 2012 here -> http://goo.gl/Ikhte However, they published an article (starting Dec 5, 2012) in the Dailies, a copy of which is attached, which gives a much shorter list than the one they have on the website. I have attached a scan of that list for your reference- with a CC to you in case the listman thinks it's larger than allowed. Previously discussed on this list, I believe the Gospell STB - http://goo.gl/dlVSp - has more features than the others in the market and is a good bet at only KES 6,500 (I just asked them!) However, they published an article (starting Dec 5, 2012) in the Dailies, a copy of which is attached, which gives a much shorter list than the one they have on the website. Previously discussed on this list, I believe the Gospell STB - http://goo.gl/dlVSp - has more features than the others in the market and is a good bet at only KES 6,500 (I just asked them!)

I am using GOtv one though, but I think you'll be happy with GOSPELL.

My 2 Cents, Spend your money on other thngs, not a Digital TV. Im guessing youll still need lots of the good stuff that will never see the light of day on DTT, elsewhere someone was lamenting at the quality of offerings on that, far as am concerned, an analogue TV with a Digital set top box is a digital tv, if that Set top box has a hard drive, an ethernet connection and pluggable add ons to the firmware then its one kick ass PVR, if you can ssh into it and modify some files, thats freedom<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dreambox> ....... DSTV has FTA but if you don't pay subscription, even FTA are cut !! Last time, I called to complain and answer I got was that they change their policy and now all channels are cut, event FTA (which was not the case before). I begged for FTA and lady said she will put back Kenyan channels... and when I asked about other channels like CCTV, France 24, Euronews... She refused ! From what I learnt here recently, there is DVB-S (DSTv Decoder) and DVB-T (GOtv decoder) In both cases, the do Digital Video Broadcasting, but only through different mediums - (S)atellite and (T)errestrial. My story occurred in July 2012 so not sure CCK was concerned much about this at that time. Anyway, I stopped with DSTV the following month !! And since I have another decoder (STRONG), Funniest thing in this story, when I called and asked for FTA channels at DSTV, lady on the phone told me it's ILLEGAL... And I replied it's may be illegal for DSTV as FTA channels are illegal in SOuth Africa but as far as I know it is very legal in Kenya and what they are doing (cutting FTA) is very illegal !!! From what I learnt here recently, there is DVB-S (DSTv Decoder) and DVB-T (GOtv decoder) In both cases, the do Digital Video Broadcasting, but only through different mediums - (S)atellite and (T)errestrial. @Collins, It's not an "African" thing as you would like to suggest. I for one watch a lot of stuff on 720p and above - which occupies most of my hours in front of the telly - and that was my primary motivation in going for a big-screen HDTV. The difference is worth it if one can afford it. As for FTA channel transmissions - the quality varies but we'll see if they'll upscale after everyone is forced to digital tv, such that it will be the STBs to downscale for those with non-HDTVs. Kiss TV for example uses HD cameras in their studios, but we all know we watch SD content. If you're on DSTV you'll see KTN has the best picture quality compared to all other local channels - I guess that is SD maxed out. Why restrict your TV specs to local content quality?
