Now you've seen the light! :-)
Initially, I doubted whether the geek in you superseded the kikuyuness in you<LOL> Just kidding!
Thanks for that Wash , I think my mind is set, the LED TV should do for now, guess even the need to get digital wouldn't mean me spending almost 20K extra. On Mon, Dec 10, 2012 at 11:29 AM, Odhiambo Washington <odhiambo@gmail.com> wrote:
I have a Samsung 3D Blue-ray player I won in one of their promotions. It's got WiFi/Ethernet connections, Apps, Allshare which I can access on the TV. I can painfully browse the net using the cursor on the RC (Remote Control) but I must say I see no real value of those being on TV. Maybe I am just old school, but a TV should not take the place of a computer. So soon, you'll have a mouse communicating with the TV? Well, your choice of 60k does not have this, IIRC.... so maybe you should wait.
I can only advise you to think of a TV as a TV for now if your _primary_ consideration is "digital".On Mon, Dec 10, 2012 at 11:10 AM, Martin Gicheru <martin@techweez.com> wrote:
Thanks Washington, reason I'm still confused as to whether to get a 35k Led tv vs the 60k digital and smart tv is the other nice things it comes with beyond inbuilt set-top box. The wi-fi direct, apps, browser. It's about trying to be closer to future-proofness. A year from now I will be feeling like it's the standard tv having apps, browser full HD and wireless connectivity.

Hi Mickey,
So far there is only 1 digital TV vendor in the Kenyan market - Samsung.
Please go to http://samsutech.net/LEDS_TVs/About_LED_all.html and scroll to the bottom. The TV marked at 59,995 is the only one with a built in DVB-T2 STB thus goes how to identify - MUST HAVE a built-in DVB-T2 STB.

Sorry for my intervention but How exactly will one tell this TV is analog and this one is digital. Any theory? On Mon, Dec 10, 2012 at 8:15 AM, Martin Gicheru <martin@techweez.com> wrote:
_______________________________________________Morning skunks,
No need to pretend we are know-it alls and suffer in ignorance.
I lost a TV to robbery some 3 months ago and I am yet to replace it. Naturally one will be window shopping all through till you finally decide what to opt for. Been mulling over this "buy a tv and add a set top box-considering all other devices you plug in to a tv" and "just wait till you can afford a dvb-t2 compliant tv, which in this case is the Samsung smart tv at 60k".
Dec 31st is approaching, so one would want to be as future-proof as possible. What's your take skunks?Regards,
Martin Gicheru
