Hey, Is there a facility for streaming of video from an event to the internet or do i hv to use Skype and other similar facilities. I have a fibre optic connectivity but i dont know how i ca stream live video across the internet Thanks in advance

Windows Media Server did this for me some time back. I really dont know if its still downloadable or supported. It streams media playing on Windows Media Player. Alternatively, you can point it to your video capture card (TV Card) and you will stream video/audio live. (Which means that yes, you can even stream KTN from your PC) Linux version? I got no idea. Hi @Charles, the facility coming very soon, I hope and unfortunately cannot pre-empt discussion further..... :-) The Technology as old as the internet, however unfortunately our tech sector large companies asleep as usual, waiting for someone else to do it before they can jump on the bandwagon and go for it. Then they go to pick sme awards based on sales as performers of the year! Kweli, the twisted and illusional times we live in..... It's a really bad when tech users have to ask the question below in 2009. I'll log off before I end up starting flame wars myself. My thots... Rgds. VLC is definitely what you want... The beauty about it is that it can read named pipes...:) So you can redirect your output from say a webcam to a pipe then have vlc read from the pipe, encode and stream. See section 7.2.3 of the pdf found here: http://www.opensource.or.ke/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=37&Ite...

If you can get hold of a box with Windows 2008 Server there is an IIS plugin for live smooth streaming ( http://www.iis.net/extensions/LiveSmoothStreaming)t hat you can investigate - Allows people with high bandwidth to get good quality video, up to HD quality - Allows those of us on slower connections to get reduced quality but still watch the video - Streams over http It worked very well for the NBC olymics website so it should fit most uses On Mon, Oct 12, 2009 at 6:07 PM, albert kamau <kamau.albert@gmail.com>wrote:

ePresence (http://epresence.tv/) "is a complete solution for streaming, capturing, and publishing Rich Media presentations". And best of all, it is open-source so there are no license fees and whatever. You can buy commercial support, if you need to, from the creators (University of Toronto). I used v4 about a year ago and I found it to be feature-rich and easy to use, the powerpoint synchronization was quite useful. Their website has a showcase of how your presentation can look like if you used ePresence (TEDxToronto used ePresence for their event a few weeks ago). saidi On Mon, Oct 12, 2009 at 11:19 AM, Rad! <conradakunga@gmail.com> wrote:
