Am hearing swift global now on seacom, uunet by end of this month. If swift on Seacom, then Zain ( I think use swift gateway ) then Zain too should become 2nd GSM Operator? This is due for a permanent fix tonight since we have to replace the faulty section of the cable. NB- We are working hard to set up the redundant link to Msa to reduce on service disruptions. Assuming they are, removing the 550ms from the overall latencies will improve services on any network. Also that the queues used to maintain QOS levels will have less buffering, less processing, better tcp streams. It may not be real broadband but the impact is good. 3g and 3g+ ( not yet on seacom ) are the only ones who can provide real mobile broadband. However, Zain has an option for unlimited monthly use so it may be cost effective. But for 3-4K a month, maybe I'd rather be talking to fixed wimax like zuku or access kenya or others. We have had quite an issue with KDN fiber link between Mariakani and Mombasa affecting the Seacom trunk link to Msa from Nairobi.
This is due for a permanent fix tonight since we have to replace the faulty section of the cable.
NB- We are working hard to set up the redundant link to Msa to reduce on service disruptions.

I did sign the contract after reading the T & C. Never have I received a threat even when I go to the CC or send an email bursting with anger. I did sign the contract after reading the T & C.
Never have I received a threat even when I go to the CC or send an email bursting with anger. Actually, the CC do call me back when I address an issue which is against the T&C I signed or even when experiencing some technical hitches!

There's a pal of mine who's using it and he's never paid I thnk since Jan and he says there was a contract for 2yrs within which you are bound to use the modem....
Did you sign any contarct when you got the modem??? after reading the T & C???

I can't recall a time Zain issued threats to its customers who wanted to stop using it's services. It is important to get the facts right.

I have checked the stockskenya thread, but it does not show any threat he received from Zain. It therefore does not substantiate the allegation. The reason I'm curious about this, is there is no corporate in today's dynamic market that can afford to issue threats to its customers. And since Zain is not the most preferred telco due to "stiff competition", they would not afford to issue threats to a customer. I did sign the contract after reading the T & C.
Never have I received a threat even when I go to the CC or send an email bursting with anger. Actually, the CC do call me back when I address an issue which is against the T&C I signed or even when experiencing some technical hitches!

Guys I have received threats from Zain and Safaricom. First Safaricom I went to Kisumu with my new Modem and Laptop and lost my modem in the hotel. I locked the Laptop to the Metal Table and so it couldn't move from the table but lost the Modem. It was postpaid with Safaricom and I think I was just on the 3rd month of using it. I called Safaricom to stop the line since I have lost it and I will activate it after buying new modem. They told me that tehy dont do such a thing and I have to pay for the full use every month until the next year is over. I went to Moi Avenue and demanded to speak to the manager. She couldn't listen to me and was very rude. I resorted to facebook and social media and told Safaricom that they cannot front an argument that I loose my car through carjacking then I have to pay for full tank petrol which I am not using. Thats robbery and they should be ready to start recovering the money. A guy called Abraham called me in a record two hours and told me that teh line had been terminated. I have not gone back to claim the line and wont ever go to claim it because that was robbery May and June I was out of Kenya and so was not using my Zain and they were sending lots of threats and SMSes including the head of Data called Eric Natembea calling and issuing threats. I did sign the contract after reading the T & C.
Never have I received a threat even when I go to the CC or send an
bursting with anger. Actually, the CC do call me back when I address an issue which is against the T&C I signed or even when experiencing some technical hitches!
