This is why airtel will continue making losses: worst network

After heavy usage,I exceeded my limit by 1/- on Safaricom line and without a blink got disconnected. Am not complaining about that, kinda gotten used to it now. Since I still had lots of calls to make I bought a zain/airtel line. Loaded it with 500 airtime and sat pretty to make calls, this was just about when arsenal vs fulham match was about to start. Shock on me I couldn't make calls, frantic calls to 111 airtel customer care disconnected just like any other call I tried to make. 10min later aft reading the Mwaks that come with the line I called 222. By this time it was halftime btn arsenal-fulham,score line 0-0,I hadn't scored either past the a zillion AVRs. Why would i want to know how much it cost to call India anyway,I don't give a hoot. When I finally did, just as the teams were getting back on the pitch the gentleman on the zain side told me they are having a network issue around my area...promising answer, until I asked him how it was that I was able to call airtel and whether the channel was different. He calmly told me to switch off my phone and thanked me just before I shouted bullshit. Problem always come in twos and as the zain guy hung up, and so,vermalean scored an own goal. Frustrated at the two issues, I decided to call zain again, did another round of filanga free musicals and 20minutes later I was talking to a lady. My charge was dying too so I kinda wanted the conversation crisp. She calmly told me I calling using an orange line! How the F&$( is that even possible to call222 from another provider sim. Before I could digest that load of fart, she told me the line belongs to francis wanjala....hehehe. "so now you have access to Orange databases?", I asked. As if doubting myself,I took the plastic that hold the sim and looked at it hoping to see orange but all I saw was zain. The conversation was crisp indeed coz mysteriously I got a prompt to leave a message...I ended up hanging up Tried calling the number a few more times after the arsenal draw but couldn't get through to customer care. Watched Juventus match all through while trying to get past the 222 avrs but couldn't. Then like a stroke of genius it hit me that the people I wanted call had slept anyway. I gave up , 500/- lost, lost opportunity, frustrated and convinced that better the devils(read safaricom) than the Indian you don't. Sent from my iPad

Hi Jared, Sorry about your experience. I have also faced the same with KenCell/Celtel/Zain/Airtel/...... customer care. What I really don't understand, is their idiotic insistance on playing back advert after advert while you are on hold with their IVR system. I mean really.... I am already on your network. Hello... you don't need to advertise to me!!! It really pisses me off. But I guess they just don't care about (already existing [hint, hint]) customers. I mean, who else are they going to irritate? hi all, I. have been with the network ever since it was celtel. Actually, the switch to celtel was a big motivator, seeing as am a big fan of the underdogs. Connection to their customer care was always between 3 - 5 min tops....up until Airtel bought out Zain!!! I too have experienced the 'localized' network outtages but only for the data-services which quickly turned to trash as soon as Airtel took over. I can't wait for another company to take over ... hopefully Zain can make a comeback now that Arab countries are making huge strides in the economic sphere :-) . [snip] @Eva, Airtel is the only network where you can never be sure your SMS gets delivered. In my case, I have setup DSN for my SMSes but in almost 90% of the cases, I look at my delivery reports and the status is "Pending". With QB, it's like guaranteed. There is nothing like "pending".
