Members, As you may be aware, a committee comprising of six ISOC members was appointed to assist with the election process for the chapter. The committee incorporated two observers from other ISOC chapters. The committee has had several meetings and deliberated on our mandate. Please find attached a document containing the Draft Election Regulations. We request members to look at them , think about them and offer us constructive critique. Members of the committee are here and available to clarify any questions you may have. We look forward to hearing from you over this weekend and to working with you to have take the chapter to its next phase. Regards, -- Grace L.N. Thanks for the good work by Grace and team, - Just to add to Kelvin's second question (as the 1st is already answered in the attached doc), what happens if an elected official is incapacitated for one reason or another? @ Ronald, The By-Laws have provisions for re-election in the case of resignation or a leader becoming incapacitated. In such a case, the whole community would be involved in the decision. I am not with my computer at the moment but will send you the by laws ASAP. 2014-03-08 4:40 GMT+03:00 Ronald Ojino <ronojinx@gmail.com>:

Kelvin, Thank you. 1.On publication of nominated candidates, that is noted and will be incorporated in the calender before ballots are sent. 2. The question of resides in Kenya was quite a tough one even for the committee. We settled for "ordinarily resides in Kenya" to incorporate those who would normally live in Kenya and be interested in promoting ISOC's objects in Kenya. I hope this clarifies the issue. 2014-03-08 2:16 GMT+03:00 Kelvin Githira <kelvin@skysys.co.ke>:

Thank you grace for the clarification below is a link maybe far fetched but could shed light on the question. I do ask this question as this is a society we do not want court orders after the elections or before. Other societies have been crippled by this. Also if we could get an extract from the kenyan law would be helpful i dnt do a deep search on the kenyan law so if its contradictory or been clarified before my apologies in advance http://www.advocatekhoj.com/library/bareacts/representation/20.php?Title=Rep... http://www.justice.gc.ca/eng/rp-pr/fl-lf/divorce/rhro_cl/p4.html Sent from my iPhone

Brian, Jane, Thank you for the kind words. The committee was of the view that this first elections are open to all members without looking at subscription. This is because first, the subscription amount has never been agreed on and secondly because we wanted to avoid financial responsibility as we would have had to handle the subscription. @Davis, I thought use of "ordinarily resident" would have sufficed. We can draft that clause to clarify. 2014-03-08 17:09 GMT+03:00, Brian Ngure <brian@pixie.co.ke>:

Grace and Team, Thanks this is a great work well done. Now my question is what is the e-mail of the committee. The regulation or conduct of campaigne to the nominated members. thanks Daniel Omondi +254-722-756211 On Saturday, March 8, 2014 7:04 PM, Grace Mutung'u (Bomu) <nmutungu@gmail.com> wrote: Brian, Jane, Thank you for the kind words.
Hi Grace,
I second the request for Mpesa payments. On Mar 8, 2014 5:04 PM, "Network of non- formal Educational institutions" < nnfeischools@yahoo.com> wrote:
Dear GRACE The regulations are ok to me. Could we also pay the membership fee through an Mpesa No. This would facilitate a greate deal for those who are not able to attend the meeting

I do ask this question as this is a society we do not want court orders after the elections or before. Other societies have been crippled by this.
Also if we could get an extract from the kenyan law would be helpful i dnt do a deep search on the kenyan law so if its contradictory or been clarified before my apologies in advance

Kelvin,
Thank you.

1. When will you publish the list of candidates and the positions they wish to contest
2. Resides in kenya ? What happens to the people who are members and are out of the country for one year in school or members of isoc who work in Uganda ? Please clarify this.
