Re: [Skunkworks] Using e220 modem on Ubuntu live cd.

Hi all,_ Geeky pickup lines_ Come to my 127.0.0.1 and i promise to give you sudo access. Now to serious matters. For the purpose of using a live cd to remove viruses on windows machine.See link below: http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/14434/scan-a-windows-pc-for-viruses-from-a-ub... I am trying to connect ubuntu live cd 9.10 to the internet with an e220 modem, done all command to identify the e220 as a modem with the likes of rmmod usb-storage and all the other commands. Also did sudo gedit /etc/wvdial.conf for the wvdial.conf file creation and editing, reached this point without issues. Problem is when i do wvdial hsdpa it gives an error wvdial not installed what is another way to do this or what am i doing wrong. Please Help. Regards, Nerdalf.

At 9.10, ubuntu can automatically detect a huawei modem. Uninstall wvdial, plugin the modem and paste the output of "tail -f /var/log/syslog" here ./bernard On Wed, May 19, 2010 at 8:50 AM, nerdalf <nerdalf@gmail.com> wrote:

Ok. Just post the tail /var/log/messages or syslog...that should help troubleshoot the issue...It was just last week I used the 9.04 live CD and had to do a apt-get to install a package...i used a modem for that and had no issues at all.... ./bernard On Wed, May 19, 2010 at 4:32 PM, nerdalf <nerdalf@gmail.com> wrote:

I got the solution that is funnier than the joke; make sure the modem is connected before ubuntu start up. Thx though for your help, cheers.
