I would recommend AVAST because it not only does your antivirus but also antispyware and a bunch of other good security stuff for your Windows host. Also the licensing model gives you full functionality on the free version - with a delay of about 1 week on updates.... Mblayo On Tue, May 15, 2012 at 4:27 PM, Brian Ngure <brian@pixie.co.ke> wrote:

I read on the list people describing their Av and I shake my head. Your best friendly AV at the moment is ESET, when updated, always finds em viruses. When not updated or expired, finds em viruses - and removes them. Hii ingine ni kama mbio ya farasi na punda. KAV comes closer but still ESET closes the deal. @peter check out the link and see where ESET is placed. Can't vouch for the test but if they all did the same it's really not a contender. Plus you might be just lucky that your old virus def are sufficient since you get being attacked by old viruses (pun intended) -- * If the human brain were so simple that we could understand it, we would be so simple that we couldn't. - Emerson M. Been using Microsoft's security essentials and have never been infected. plus its free and maintained by Microsoft. We must appreciate that all these supposed reviews are not immune to corruption. if Kaspersky bribe the reviewers then they will top same for eset etc. I would go with the company maintained any day. Jimmy Mcafee's "Style" is more of restrictive than protection (guess they literally implement prevention is better than cure) but we are talking about how smart an antivirus is here (if i get the purpose of this conversation) , as for me ESET IS ,Kerspersky IS the MS Essentials are best at detecting and finding viruses ,configured correctly any antivirus (updated) will stop infection (going by the notion that all infections are user initiated) , now to the question that will put everything in perspective is ..to a novice who knows no better but wants to utilize their computer resources (RAM ,CPU) and be able to run any freeware that catches their attention ... if you can give an answer to which AV can do this then we will have the AV that will still be in business (that's how MS has survived the virus/blue screen/ data loss problems ) As for me my list stays as above ... reminds me i need to install an AV on my laptop ..been 2 months :) On Thu, May 17, 2012 at 8:27 AM, Jimmy Thuo <jimmy.thuo@gmail.com> wrote:
