Would you trust the same people who make an operating system that allows viruses to attack it to provide you with an anti-virus? How do you know/trust the anti-virus works properly?

Who's more lethal; the guy who stands to lose all or the guy who has everything to gain?

@Peter, at the end of it all, everyone will praise their own moms' culinary skills. I doubt if there will be a general consensus on who emerges tops on this one. Whatever works for an individual, holds :)
