I'm thinking of working with Swift Global to set my house up with a hotspot. They say they have fibre in my estate and so they can plug me right into it. But I hear their customer care and support and stability can be questioned. So I come to the experts - you. What do you think of them? Should I go with them? A Sent from my BlackBerry® smartphone provided by Airtel Kenya

Well... there are atleast 3 or 4 pissed off skunkies for every ISP in Kenya, but sinse you're ISPs name doesn't start with "zuku" or "access kenya", you have a statistically better chance of striking luck (by which I mean you won't encounter issues that will require you to call support... that's where the bad customer-expierience starts) ... then again, do you have a choice for fibre from another ISP in you're area? We've opted to go for zuku fibre where i work coz its the only fibre around, and its damn close (like 15-20 metres) On 8/3/11, alkags@gmail.com <alkags@gmail.com> wrote:

Just for the kicks, I'd like to say that I am a very happy Access Kenya/Safaricom client. I'd not love them to be bundled with anyone:-) For those two providers, their customer service are quite responsive. JDSK's mention of Access Kenya in this context sounds like a misnomer. KDN fibre is a #fail. The thing goes off anytime. We are connected via swift and in a week, we spend quite hour calling swift support who in turn blame KDN. On 3 August 2011 10:02, susan muthui <susan.muthui@gmail.com> wrote:

I concur, of late KDN fiber has become very unreliable. Every day there has to be an issue somewhere. This was not the case a few months ago so something has gone wrong somewhere. On Wed, Aug 3, 2011 at 1:13 PM, mash lists <mashlists@gmail.com> wrote:

.... well, odhiambo may be right about access-kenya. my experience with them was... close to three years ago. never even bothered to pay the fees for the second month. ... but still, for the home user, i wouldnt recommend it. AK is best for the corporate, and even the costs applied on the home user are much more expensive compared to shared-boradband alternatives. yes, AK offers the home users dedicated net, and i guess thats why u get 128kbps [edge speeds] for 4k while zuku will give 1mbps for the same (with akina swift charging almost the same)... and why do they do that btw? how many "home" users need dedicated IPs and dedicated bandwidth?... anyways... its not all the time that these ISPs are crap... even zuku. have a pal who rans a cyber on them, bila shida. just cross ur fingers On 8/3/11, mash lists <mashlists@gmail.com> wrote:
