contact yahoo...believe it or not your friend gave away his/her password(they were asked to confirm it coz yahoo is aparently checking who are still using their accounts) and they went in to his/her mail and changed it. Did your friend by any chance use a public computer and leave while still signed in. Someone I know did that and the next person who used the computer changed all their passwords. What account? If it's yahoo, I've seen an incident with a yahoo account and surprise surprise their email support assisted and sorted the issue after writing to them. There's normally an email address provided at the password reset page in case the reset procedure doesn't go through. If you have the right credentials to the account, try their email support For gmail, the alternative email has always worked.Never encountered a situation where everything just refuses to happen for Gmail though. doesnt yahoo give options to reset the passord if you claim it aint working which include sending a text message to the phone, other email addresses you put in? so if my email is abc@yahoo.com when I created that account yahoo requires another email address so they can send instructions to reset you password. if you try to change it yahoo will email you for confirmation. so even if it was hacked for the person to change the secondary email address the recipient of that address has to confirm.
