Got a suggestion, Technologically speaking, is there a way ICT infrastructure can be designed in such a way that if i call 911 in chalbi deseart (on the same trip i intend to go on a LC and not be lion fodder) the call can be routed to the nearest police station, better still, how much would it cost the government to require all telephone providers to offer this as a free service in exchange for the loads of taxpayers money we pay?

The 112 rings n rings. No-one picks. Ntv i think tested. I guess it goes to a central switchboard where they (should) dispatch according to emergency. On 1/4/11, Josiah Mugambi <jmugambi@gmail.com> wrote:

Actually I think might be possible to route all mobile 112 calls to the nearest police station, based on the cell tower one is connected. Whether it's implemented is another question. -- Josiah Mugambi 2011/1/4 Mark Mwangi <mwangy@gmail.com>

I know for sure 112 works in most countries, but not in Kenya - The routing of the calls by the service provider is actually done, but maybe it doesnt ring at the cops station. Never tried 999 locally but I guess it will also just ring. ./Ok3ch On Tue, Jan 4, 2011 at 10:20 PM, Josiah Mugambi <jmugambi@gmail.com> wrote:

Talked to the cops one time when I was robbed and didn't know who to call. They said both numbers actually work but the cops don't like picking them because mostly they are prank calls with guys abusing the telephone operator[s].
