Leo social enterprise has been fortunate to get a donner who would like to buy us a computer and has provided ksh 12700 .We have as one of our members Ms Clere Kitunguli who has just finished a web design course and hope to raise enough for a better computer enough for her to design websites and graphics with ease .Do provide us with info on where we can acess such a computer. Michael, two things; 1. We sell hardware and we have not assembled a clone for close to 2 years now, because there is no demand for them, at least where we are. 2. There is no clone, that you can assemble with 12k. You tell e which one. Anyhow, I have connected him to an NGO where he will still get an ex-UK at an even lower price. MY FRIENDS HERE DONT et the statement well.first,these r beginners,secondly, they have kshs 12,000 for comp,thirdly they need reliable computer that can do web design. MY POINT is this as a technician CLONE SHOULD be out in mind firts coz its not stable no matter what specs is,secondly its more xpensive and cant serve the purpose. I think it may be my time to chime in. Voices of Africa for Sustainable Development is a partner with Zack's CBO and Camara and will be providing the needed training information for the youth. A volunteer will be going into the field in the next week to assist the group with their project and programming. Their group although new, has much potential for success and has the drive and desire to be successful. The computer will be a reburbished desktop with 512mb RAM, at least 40G hard drive from either HP or Dell running on Ubuntu with a 6 month technical support contract included and an addition 6 months available for 1,000 Ksh. The total cost of the system and maintenece for their organization will be 8,000 Ksh. This equipment is only available to non-profit educational organizations or organizations with educational purposes. Currently we are working to provide computers with Camara to community based organizations, youth groups and Youth Empowerment Centers. Camara normally equips schools with e-Learning Labs. I have just found out that many talking about buying and selling computers here don't know much about the same. There are people who also make websites even with a 1.2Ghz, 256,20gb. And 12,000 for a CBO is enough to buy two ex-UK computers which is far much better than even a 3.2Ghz clone. I know a lady who did rpprights.com and crecokenya.org and she did with Dreamweaver Mx and the program runs on a 1.8, 256, 40 and the website is not so bad for them. They need a website mostly for awareness. They didn't want to do some CS5 production. They want a simple awareness website which if you have Office 2003 you can even create with frontpage or even publisher 2003. About Ikua Evans. I trust him because a friend of mine bought a 2.8, 512, 60, 19" TFT Dell ex-UK and this is the most honest computer seller I have met. This guy will go out of his way to do much because the praises he got from my friend was just too much. My friend is someone who is hard to please and he will always insist on checking everybit.But Ikua did sell him a good comp and the comp with the specs now only upgraded to 1GB RAM runs CS4. We will also need 10 computers for our digital village in Ahero and so we will ask for providers then.
