My card is based on the philips SA7130 chipset and im running it on ubuntu. card gets detected, i even see video but audio is not there. when i change to other inputs (S1 and 2) i hear sound and not TV. its like my card is capturing tv fine and then capturing audio on a different device. -- Regards, Collins Areba. *Strategic Operations. * *Center for Renewable Alternatives* Old Ferry Road, off Msa Malindi Rd, | Kilifi, Kenya. +254 720 516758 /734 696821 | skype/gtalk/twitter: arebacollins **

Connect the tv audio out to your computer audio in using the audio Jack that comes with the tv card. This should work. Else, You could also try: rmmod saa7134; modprobe saa7134 card=86 tuner=81 Then try watching tv again with mplayer.. mplayer tv://23 (That's kbc for you, a sure hit). I suggest trouble shooting with mplayer because i have been driven insane by tvtime several times before :-). It just isn't documented well enough. -- Ndungi On Oct 23, 2010 6:49 PM, "[ Brainiac ]" <arebacollins@gmail.com> wrote: OK, ive googled and done all crazies, then i figured, since i bought it in this market, most probably some of you have encountered this. Good morning Brian, Am yet to try out any DVB-x card, I have dwelt entirely in the saa713x / bttv realm. That said, I see there are no complaints in your dmesg output so I assume the card driver was setup ok, and it might only be a reception/antennae problem (as is generally common with any other usb tv cards). Unless your card was wrongly detected i.e it is not an Afatech DVB-T card ? On 25 October 2010 06:23, Brian L <lusiola@gmail.com> wrote:

Ndungi The card is correct, so are the drivers. The next step after having the drivers installed is to scan the channels. This is where *w_scan* comes in, or what I have been trying to use. It is meant to create a channel-list.conf that I am supposed to use with vlc, all I get is 0 services. Kaffeine comes with its own scan ap but doesn't seem to be working for me. I have tried from different locations within Nairobi, so I really don't think its signal issue, plus besides it works well on windoze. Anybody with experience in this. I would like to know where I am going wrong as I have followed so many threads from Google University. Thank you in advance. Kind regards, -- Lusiola Brian |3 R 1 /-\ |\|

Hi Brian, Just out of curiosity, what channels (in Kenya) do you currently get to watch with a DVB card ? And which areas are covered in and around Nairobi ? On 25 October 2010 07:49, Brian L <lusiola@gmail.com> wrote:

First, you see this line : [ 424.238960] saa7130[0]: subsystem: 1131:0000, board: Pinnacle PCTV Stereo (saa7134) [card=26,insmod option] Is your tv card branded Pinnacle PCTV ? I suspect its not because of this line : [ 361.736300] saa7130[0]: Huh, no eeprom present (err=-5)? Simply means that your card does not have eeprom which usuallu carries info about the card to enable auto-detection work better. My OS usually responds with : saa7134: <rant> saa7134: Congratulations! Your TV card vendor saved a few saa7134: cents for a eeprom, thus your pci board has no saa7134: subsystem ID and I can't identify it automatically saa7134: </rant> Much to my amusement cause that is short of suggesting that it was manufactured in the far east.. :-), but you get the point now. It means you will have to try and `guess` the card number and the tuner number. BTW, you have to get both card number and tuner number right. So enter the saa713x card list<http://www.mjmwired.net/kernel/Documentation/video4linux/CARDLIST.saa7134>, and the tuner list <http://www.gentoo-wiki.info/SAA7134#tuner> . For a head start, I'd suggest you stick to tuner=81, a Phillips TNF-something. I had earlier suggested you use card=86 too when loading the driver but it is possible that your card isnt exactly similar to mine. The best way to determine which card number to pick is to check your card's brand-manufacturer against the 100 or so cards in the card list and make an intelligent guess! Ongeza Line volume (important) on aumix, or start alsamixer on the terminal and increase 'Line'. The last thing you need to do is to unload the driver loaded by ubuntu and reload the same driver but with the correct options : rmmod saa7134_alsa; //you might need to unload other dependent modules sometimes eg saa7134_dvb or somehting like that rmmod saa7134; then reloading, modprobe saa7134 card=<a good guess> tuner=<a good guess>; Again, if yours came from the far east as mine start with card=86. then test it with tvtime or mplayer. If it fails, same cycle : unload, reload, test. All the while making sure audio jack is correctly connected from tvcard to computer sound card. If you are good with bash scripting, you can try automating the process : loop through every card number with every tuner number with your headphones on and a log file. Hack on.. :-) On 26 October 2010 05:05, [ Brainiac ] <arebacollins@gmail.com> wrote:
