Skunkspeople, Suppose I have a website whose 99% target market is Kenyans and I want to make sure that it is available even when TEAMS/Seacom/EASYY etc are down, is my line of thinking below correct? Possible solution 1. Find me a webhosting company that actually locates the servers here and somehow 'peers' at KIXP. Are there such companies? Possible solution number 2. Co-locate a server at one of the local providers of such services and get me a public IP address and host my own stuff. Are there other possible solutions?

option 3: Get a reliable connection to the net and public IP address from your ISP. then you host the web at home/office. On Mon, Jan 31, 2011 at 12:40 PM, Peter Karunyu <pkarunyu@gmail.com> wrote:

Works great until power goes out. Options #1 and #2 is better, IMHO, just ensure the IP address space you get hosted/colocated on is peered at the IXP. Choice between the two would be cost versus functionality/security/flexibility (e.g. having your own server co-located may be better since you have control over it, access to it, and are ultimately responsible for security).
