I am sorry to make a public complaint here but I am barred from using my Airtel line reason given is that it has been three months since I loaded airtime via scratchcard. Mark you I have sufficient credit that I bought from Airtel Money. And to think that the same company spam calls me at least once a day and spams my inbox with offers, yet they cannot use the same technology to activate my line? Is there anyone from Airtel here? -- Grace L.N. Mutung'u (Bomu) Kenya Skype: gracebomu Twitter: @Bomu Website: http://www.diplointernetgovernance.org/profile/GraceMutungu

Any line that is unused for more than 3 months goes to suspend or expired status. The same is applicable in safcom as well. Its called a line lifecycle. The same applies in the banks as well, although the funds may be made available upto a certain period. ./bernard On Jul 17, 2013 12:18 PM, "Grace Mutung'u (Bomu)" <nmutungu@gmail.com> wrote:

Bernard, I use the line. My last call was on Saturday. Problem is that I do not load it using scratchcards.... On 17 July 2013 12:21, Bernard Mwagiru <bmwagiru@gmail.com> wrote:

This is more of a business case. You need to generate some revenue within some set period of time to remain active on the network. It's an industry policy.

I have just had several calls to Airtel Customer Care. Since today morning, I was not able to make calls from my postpaid line - and I am paid up in advance, such that when they send their e-Invoice, it reads ZERO. After several hours waiting, my line is now restored and I can call. However this makes me ask myself whether Airtel has got the right systems to manage their customers. I have a hunch it's easy to make millions if someone knows their game - playing with their systems! On 17 July 2013 12:18, Grace Mutung'u (Bomu) <nmutungu@gmail.com> wrote:

The biggest tragedy with Airtel, as MJ once noted, is the outsourcing of the Customer Care functions. The smiling/patient attendants you deal with are NOT Airtel employees. In most cases, they are not given any comprehensive training that ties up all the business workings of the company. It's just amazing that they have to attend to our issues despite all these shortcomings.

What about the guys in the bush in Lokichogio or Kalawa? How will they know this high powered, high technology networking forum exists.. We need a more proactive approach. Good to see that the list is powerful and works. +1 @Kivuva, I hope Airtel sorts out the bigger issue: that a line should be deemed active if a subscriber is using Airtelmoney! On 17/07/2013, Kivuva <Kivuva@transworldafrica.com> wrote:
