Not sure if I get your drift well. Back in Kenya; the terms credit and pre-paid don't mix :) We have some pre-paid debit cards. KCB and BOA have them.

After the initial paperwork on the existing cards, I see all the cards under discussion being similar. What may make me ditch the existing cards will be the charges levied on the new entrant and it's scope of use (I guess being VISA branded signals some wide acceptability)
...Forgot to add... If it also provides more avenues through which I can do my top-ups, then I'm game. The current KCB card only allows Telegraphic transfers & Banking hall deposits only. Now with the sorry state of internet banking we have, it becomes quite hard to use the card effectively if one is outside Kenya for a long duration.

I have checked out both Toucan and The KCB prepaid card, and they look good but they are both Visa Electron, which has never worked for me for internet transactions. I'm looking for a plain Visa or MasterCard as most sites accept those.
Timothy, Have u used the KCB card? Visa Electron notwithstanding, it works fine. Only limitation comes when you use it in some selected regions; in which case you need to contact KCB before-hand to lift any restrictions.
I second Tony on that...the KCB card is very efficient if you are travelling...though restrictions apply on the following countries by default but you can call the card center and have them lift it: - France - Japan - Indonesia - Taiwan Province of China, - Iraq - Korea (south) - Korea Democratic People's Rep - Saudi Arabia - Spain - Italy - Brazil For internet purchases it's very smooth - I've used it on both Google Checkout and Paypal several times with no hassles. In all instances I have used it the money deposited on the card is usable online immediately. They also provide the m-banking service on *522# which is locked to your number when you sign up, so you can get mini-statements and confirm balance, etc.

Some website was purporting to sell virtual prepaid cards; I paid and was sent a 12 digit number that did not even validate to as a valid VISA card.
