A little politics - This is not OT by any means!

A UDF govt (read Musalia Mudavadi's party): 1. Plans to reduce the cost of bread from Sh43 to Sh25 by removing the 60% tax charged on imported wheat! (what they don't tell you is how they will cover for the deficit in revenue) 2. Would allocate more than Sh 2billion to Software Development. (the developers here need to think seriously about who they will vote for! :-)) 3. The 2million jobs that have been repartiated to other countries must be brought back immediately. (For once I think I need to go back to school to learn English, because I did not understand the above statement). Daily Nation, PP5, col 3 contains elements gleaned from UDF Manifesto. If anyone thinks this is OT, I am willing to stand the wrath<LOL> Politics is life. Being a geek is just being lazy. -- Best regards, Odhiambo WASHINGTON, Nairobi,KE +254733744121/+254722743223 _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ I can't hear you -- I'm using the scrambler.

Well; 2 million jobs of people working outside; earning eg 5000 to 10,000 USD per month - does the Government have local alternatives with same pay ? Or does he mean to chase the foreign employees and investors from within ? These manifestos are just ridiculous - if questioned; he would have no clue what they mean or how to implement... 2 billion for software development - What does that mean ? Lets say there are 100,000 techies - that means a once pay off of Ksh. 20,000 per employee - WTF ??? For Software Development ? If there are 10,000 techies - thats a once pay off of Ksh. 200,000. What about the tools and the management frame - is that also included in the 2billion budget?

In Kenya, we all very good in writing manifesto', blue prints and grandeur plans. Putting it into action is left for you to judge :-) ./Ok3ch On Mon, Jun 25, 2012 at 1:32 PM, ndungu stephen <ndungustephen@gmail.com> wrote:

I think this explains why these politicians fear a joint public debate/rally (as was suggested by the CJ). If such manifesto elements were put to the test (I remember Harpic), I am sure most of the proposers would be lost as to any options they'd have if plan A did not work. Reading the Mudavadi party UDF sounds like they have a covenant with God on most matters - else I don't know where they derive all that confidence from. Lunacy?? Forget manifestos. They are a sham. Remember one about Kenya hosting olympics, creating 500k jobs a year etc. They should just make it simple and tell us they need the money and power. On Mon, Jun 25, 2012 at 2:59 PM, Antony Mwai <antonymwai@gmail.com> wrote:

But seriously though, does Mudavadi have a chance. He is just hopeless, the manifesto is wishful thinking and unsustainable.

A strong 'opponent' would make sure he does not clinch the UDF presidential election and that will maliza him for at least 5 years.. by supporting the more likable politician going by the name Abdikadir .... On Tue, Jun 26, 2012 at 12:47 PM, kipropest <kipropbrian@gmail.com> wrote:

Most of the people I have spoken to go like "X sio m'baya. In fact ningempa kura. Lakini ni nani atampigia kura?" That is the problem. Politicians know that no-one will care about a manifesto when at the ballot because you will get to the ballot and say "I know X is good for our country, but why vote for him/her and waste my vote". And so they just copy paste manifestos, and concentrate on the 'real business of elections' - choppers, cash, numbers, ethnicities, slurring and propaganda. Let us be different this next election. I suggest 1. decide who you will vote for without asking "what everyone else thinks" 2. if you still have'nt decided by march 2013, keep your voters card safely tucked in your wallet. There will be 2017. 3. if you can't do that either, simama tukupigie. si hata wewe umetosha ! :-) -- Ndungi Kyalo neno.co.ke ~ Your word O Lord, lights my path. I believe we should have the Manifestos published for interrogation on a public platform - an open debate covered on TV - one presidential candidate and his/her coat-hangers on the dock, with all citizen invited. We should have combined public debates like they do in the US and have aa chance to expose the liars so that citizenry can make up their mindss on who best suits them as CEO of Kenya. Am I missing something here, I thought there is a science of opinions and mind-shaping media where the greater part of the atom gets its 'facts right' on who to vote for. Who reads manifesto's (atleast I read the nyayo philosophy of Peace Love and Unity -) apart from some skunk(tte) who wants to understand the framework? Thresholds are established by getting your percentages up not your policies or vision for the country. Then from here we get the @ndungi hesitation principle of 'don't waste ur vote'. From here we draw some polar graphs that really shows that this guy deserved it! I just hope different this time, so much so *_______________________________________________________________ We must Keep on, * On Tue, Jun 26, 2012 at 3:41 PM, Odhiambo Washington <odhiambo@gmail.com>wrote:
