Anyone share this experience? I've been on a short trip away and upon getting back, I checked my email account. Its swamped by mails from a mailing list at bidiiafrika@googlegroups.com. I have nothing against any groups trying to do their thing and I appreciate the work done by other groups etc but I'm not interested in receiving email about migingo, pregnancy tests and racist remarks etc. I also appreciate that these people thought I was someone who would contribute but unfortunately I cannot. The strange part is that I never subscribed to this group and so I assume it was done WITHOUT MY CONSENT. I'm assuming that Google do have a policy against spamming, I'm not going to unsubscribe to the mailing list because I never subscribed to it in the first place. You could also report all mails from this address as spam. Google spam filter should do the rest for you. Unfortunate, but i guess you'll have to unsubscribe yourself. the good news is: you can prevent this happening in the future by logging into your google account, then go to: http://groups.google.co.ke/groups/mysubs there, you should find a box marked "Do not allow group managers to directly add me to their groups" - tick the box, and save your prefs, and now nobody can add you into a group without your consent. @Robert, Check and verify email headers - Will help you identify the source(if really from googlemail or somewhere else, smtp used (probably is an a/c set on email client (.,.,.,). @Robert, When you say "our organization", I assume you have a corporate server handling e-mails for your staff, yes/no? If you are using an Open Source MTA, then it most likely supports PCRE (Perl Compatible Regular Expressions). Exim (my favorite) and Postfix both do. You can use an RE match to redirect mail from that sender to /dev/null (bit bucket). As such, all you need is to do is bring it to the attention of the authorities much the same way you would if your offices were vandalized. This ICT act surely packs a mean punch heh? I bet Chris K. is shaking his head in sympathy for us all, there is a nifty little feature of Gmail called Filters. Like it has been said, you can set it up to delete emails coming from a certain email address. But I ask, why be so nice? Why not forward that email to the owner of the group?
