Given the volumes you say (6k emails) "broadly assuming" a modest 10kb per email, and a 256kbps (32KB per second) downlink, your organization wastes 30+ minutes daily on downloading junk from this group. Thats a significant bandwidth/opportunity cost.
If my memory serves me well, the ICT act espressly categorizes spamming as a specific offence under our laws. As such, all you need is to do is bring it to the attention of the authorities much the same way you would if your offices were vandalized.
You could also get more ambitious by identifying their ISP from the "Received" email headers, and enjoining them as accomplices for aiding and abetting a felony

I've been on a short trip away and upon getting back, I checked my email
account. Its swamped by mails from a mailing list at
bidiiafrika@googlegroups.com.
I have nothing against any groups trying to do their thing and I appreciate
the work done by other groups etc but I'm not interested in receiving email
about migingo, pregnancy tests and racist remarks etc. I also appreciate
that these people thought I was someone who would contribute but
unfortunately I cannot.
The strange part is that I never subscribed to this group and so I assume
it was done WITHOUT MY CONSENT. I'm assuming that Google do have a policy
against spamming, I'm not going to unsubscribe to the mailing list because I
never subscribed to it in the first place.
Before I escalate this further, what would you suggest.
