Hi Listers, Now enough has been said about: - Zuku being incompetent and unreliable - Access kenya being Expensive though reliable - KDN - being a pain when it comes to support - Safaricom having minimal or no down time. Now kindly recommend an ISP based on* pure experience*. When it comes to ISPs-so far, you won't get everything you are looking for in a bundle-and you have listed it very well below. e.g. You will hardly ever get a cheap and reliable connection..sacrifice one to get one..Cheap is at the expense of reliable..you want good speeds, reliability, then dig deeper..ofcourse some like Zuku should probably be selling Oranges instead of bandwidth but they are still in business, so they must have some happy clients somewhere too.. My recommendation: Try callkey networks for a reliable connection and excellent support. On Wed, Jan 12, 2011 at 5:53 PM, Martin Muraguri <martinmur87@gmail.com>wrote:

Well, Callkey... I was sending a question via their contact form and it seems like there is a 404 error on their contact form... I am not saying they are not good...but a 404 error with only 6 pages???? Is that shoddy or is it shady? Claire. On 1/12/11, jade manzana <jade.manzana@gmail.com> wrote:

If you are at a location with Fiber and there is an ISP that is able to ride on it, and the cost of the bandwidth bracket you need is not a threat to your budget, then go for "that" ISP. I am saying this because those on fiber appear to be the happier lot. ELSE go for VSAT if you can afford it. I am not naming any ISP for you at this time. However, I use both Safaricom and AK. Safaricom for my voice traffic, given their redundancy structure and AK because of historical reasons:-) -- Best regards, Odhiambo WASHINGTON, Nairobi,KE +254733744121/+254722743223 _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ Damn!!

As far as ISPs are concerned, you have to test them yourself as experiences vary Zuku has a *VERY VERY* bad reputation but i haven't had any bad experiences myself (exept for the hidden cost on equipment the loan). Been with them since last year. Saf as you claim "having minimal or no down time" may be ok to you but for me..., i was once deducted 8bob daily without receiving my 10mb for about 3 weeks & even tho customer care aknowledged the problem they handled the case poorly. I got 24 bob refund. But i got to hand it to them, besides ukora yao they have the fastest * mobile* internet. Airtel can't see them even if they had 3 eyes. KDN likes cooprate clients more than us home and small office users. Access same as above. To them good customer support means they deny you admin rights take control over your router...you can guess what they can do with that. AK router's always look like a crime scene... alot of red and yellow tape; If an ISP is still in business, it has more happier customers than pissed off customers. So your only option is to chose one and hope you will belong to the former group.

Well, as ISPs go, I would advise you if you can go get Safaricom fiber, go for it. Their service is one of the best in the market, and the prices are not too high. But also depends on what bandwidth you are looking at. It would be a waste to waste a whole fiber link on anything less than 1 Mbps, but if are looking for speeds from 1 Mbps to 10 Mbps, go for Safaricom. Safaricom's prices are also good, but not for bandwidth less than 1 Mbps. And their support team seems to have come of age. Initially there were a lot of issues with support, but it seems that has been addressed. My issue with AccessKenya are many, but the most frustrating one is not being able to access or admin my router. You can imagine investing on one of the most advanced Cisco routers and having AccessKenya change the admin password and there is nothing you can do about it? That does not cut for most IT or Network Admins. But in the end, the choice comes down to you. As someone said, you can have reliable and cheap, there is always a compromise.

Would you give me contact in safcom.Name and address so that I can ask for a quotation. On Thu, Jan 13, 2011 at 9:28 AM, Philip Musyoki <pmusyoki@gmail.com> wrote:

@job, you also need to read your SLA see if there's a clause on re-selling. @Martin myisp.co.ke . good support, you get what you pay for. On 1/13/11, Job Muriuki <muriukin@gmail.com> wrote:
