Hello skunks. Allow me to rant about email blacklists, and particularly the Uceprotect Network; http://www.uceprotect.net/en Last week, I had a spamming incidence and was listed in 3 lists. After correcting the problem, two of the lists de-listed me after 1-2 days. On the other hand, Uceprotect level one want me to wait 7 days or pay $109 to get my IP de-listed. Seems to me like a heavy price to pay for a spamming fault. Luckily, very few servers in the world use this list to actually block mail so my users will have to contend without being able to send mail to some domains for a few more days because I'm not ready to part with around KES 10,000 to get de-listed. And this Uceprotect; how do they appoint themselves as email police and then ask for money on the same? I think they are in cahoots with the service providers that use them. They should devise other methods of income apart from arm-twisting server owners. That's what proper blacklists like *Spamhaus *do despite the fact that they have stringent rules about the frequency and/or recurrence of Spamming from the same hosts.

I think almost every sysadmin has had issues with Uceprotect and their de-listing levels (Googling them up will reveal this), sometimes just sitting and waiting for them to de-list you is the best thing you can do :) -- ˙˙˙˙˙˙˙˙˙˙˙˙˙˙˙˙˙˙˙˙˙˙˙ Regards, David Njuki @njukey [Google,Twitter,Yahoo]

And the client never understands this, luckily, they aren't willing to fork out 10k for that, so we just wait! Peter On Mon, Apr 4, 2011 at 12:50 PM, David Njuki <njukey@gmail.com> wrote:

The only way this will work out is if everyone boycotts such lists. Its surprising when you call up a sysadmin and they have no idea what you talking about and do not even know how to remove support for such lists on their systems. ./Ok3ch On Mon, Apr 4, 2011 at 1:05 PM, Peter Osotsi <peter.osotsi@gmail.com> wrote:

I use spamcop, spamhaus and barracuda. I know barrracuda doesn't charge but I'm not so sure about the rest. I would sure quit using a lister that charges to whitelist my domain. On 4 April 2011 14:18, Okechukwu <okechukwu@gmail.com> wrote:

@ Simon, It's not that I use such a list but a recipient server could be on such a list therefore reject any communication from my server on the basis that I'm listed there. yeah, we need to boycott such lists and protest.....
