Talking about a site where one reports and gets a follow up almost immediately, there was a forum sometimes in 2008, organized by Tandaa, and I remember there was this guy who was working on reporting missing persons via website and linking the information to all police stations in Kenya. From what I gathered when I attended the event Murigi and Co. has organized @ the Jacaranda, ALL government IT projects must go through the Kenya ICT Board, including websites. They source for vendors, monitor progress and implementation. In other words, KICTB is the IT department of the entire department. And this is not just on paper, all IT related monies from Treasury go to KICTB first then get allocated to various projects.

Well, thats what almost everyone @ that event thought, the dude who was there from KICTB said the same thing over and over again; all other government IT agencies are under KICTB as far as actual work is involved, including e-government secretariat. Unless I heard my own things. I remember thinking that, if ever I have any IT related idea I was to sell to the government, KICTB will be where I go coz the buck stops there. Well, thats what almost everyone @ that event thought, the dude who was there from KICTB said the same thing over and over again; all other government IT agencies are under KICTB as far as actual work is involved, including e-government secretariat.
Unless I heard my own things. I remember thinking that, if ever I have any IT related idea I was to sell to the government, KICTB will be where I go coz the buck stops there.

It seems that the KICTB is part of the E-Gov secretariat (through the MoIC) and implements E-Gov (KTCIP) projects in conjunction with others. It is certainly in charge of procuring / sourcing from the ICT industry. http://www.ict.go.ke/images/pdfs/6593719R_2.pdf The KICTB is a Parastatal that pushes more than E-Gov. It is also building capacity in the Kenyan ICT industry even as it sells Kenya as a BPO destination.
