Hello Skunks, Am ignoring the fact that DSTV pays copyright rights to air all the programs we watch. But how many times are they supposed to be repeating these programs considering every month i pay for a package and my surprise is i watch same programs over and over again. I enjoy supersport though but on a bigger picture (besides soccer),do you experience the same? my 2 cents Felakut

http://www.dstv.com/Pages/News/794/All-about-repeats-on-DStv The trick is to pay after every three months. I noticed that over any given three month period there will be repeats From: egmasp@yahoo.com Date: Thu, 23 Aug 2012 12:10:19 +0300 To: skunkworks@lists.my.co.ke Subject: [Skunkworks] DSTV program repeatition Hello Skunks, Am ignoring the fact that DSTV pays copyright rights to air all the programs we watch. I have asked myself this same question many times - I always wonder if they have ran out of programs! On Thu, Aug 23, 2012 at 12:10 PM, Felakut Theo <egmasp@yahoo.com> wrote:

In order to show you less repeats and newer programs, the cost would become too high. That's why it is the way it is. On Thu, Aug 23, 2012 at 12:19 PM, Odhiambo Washington <odhiambo@gmail.com>wrote:

Have you considered switching to FTA satellite channels using open satellite decoders? E.g. Openbox, Dreambox,etc... ./bernard On Thu, Aug 23, 2012 at 12:27 PM, Brian Ngure <brian@pixie.co.ke> wrote:

Not related, Bernard. I believe the issue he is not about alternative sources of infotainment, but what DSTv is giving - for the money they are being paid - the repetition. I have watched one program (movie) almost 6 times! They can afford to give variety, no? On Thu, Aug 23, 2012 at 12:33 PM, Bernard Mwagiru <bmwagiru@gmail.com>wrote:

I realised 3 years ago(last time I paid for a subscription) that DSTV is no value for money. And Im sure after watching the same program 6 times you would have realised that by now.I switched to altenatives. ./bernard On Thu, Aug 23, 2012 at 12:42 PM, Odhiambo Washington <odhiambo@gmail.com>wrote:

I just came across this link...pretty interesting http://www.ghafla.co.ke/news/tv/item/3679-a-hilarious-open-letter-to-dstv-a-... My thoughts are ..DSTV is going nowhere as long as they have sports, as well as the only provider offering HD and still the best collection of quality content.Furthermore they have the ebst content tragetting women ( Style, food channel, etc) Regards Kevin On Tue, Aug 28, 2012 at 11:37 AM, Thuo Wilson <lixton@gmail.com> wrote:

Brian, i believe your money is worth when u dont watch repetition.but paying to watch repetition it sucks. let them give a package where programs are not repeated and me as a client i will choose. On Thu, Aug 23, 2012 at 12:27 PM, Brian Ngure <brian@pixie.co.ke> wrote:

Hello Skunks,
Am ignoring the fact that DSTV pays copyright rights to air all the programs we watch.
But how many times are they supposed to be repeating these programs considering every month i pay for a package and my surprise is i watch same programs over and over again.
I enjoy supersport though but on a bigger picture (besides soccer),do you experience the same?
my 2 cents

All this free-to-air channels listed how will I know the ones that are available in east africa?

You will get 100s to 1000s of channels depending on satellite orientation and/or size of dish. You will have the HUGE task of configuring your favourite channels then. For local programming, I simply switch to my analogue/digital terestial TV signals. ./bernard On Thu, Aug 23, 2012 at 1:46 PM, Vincent Kiama <vinikiama@gmail.com> wrote:

May be DSTV should consider hourly rates for the standard decoder - just like DSTV mobile where you pay 60 bob to watch 3 hours of selected channels, mainly football and FTAs. This way you only pay to watch what you want (as opposed to being forced to watch repeats and Naija juju) KT, M: +254 722 28 98 04 www.mondeas.com “When you are busy making excuses, you are not making money, making friends, or making the world a better place. That's why I stopped with them few years ago and opted for alternatives (a guy buying French bouquet from Congo or something like that then hooking the dish to satellite) but then I had kids and they wanted cartoons, so I was back with DSTV. DSTV is very shitty and I have decided to do without DSTV for one month or two... I know I'll miss the sport though... I hope Canal+ (the leader in French-speaking countries in Africa) will soon launch their new satellite so that Kenya is included in their Indian Ocean cover (Madagascar; Reunion, Maurice); but I know DSTV will do everything possible to block this. I also decided to go for the cheapest package since I get local station in digital when I need to watch them, plus news (Aljazeera, Bloomerg, CNBC, CCTV and BBC). My only great loss is NatGeo and CNN but its not worth the extra cash. I don't care much about sports and I can always get the movies when I need to elsewhere. Discovery channel is a culprit in my view -- * If the human brain were so simple that we could understand it, we would be so simple that we couldn't. - Emerson M. Pugh *

and Discovery Science, that channel is seriously addictive! On Thu, Aug 23, 2012 at 4:40 PM, kris njoroge <krsnjo@gmail.com> wrote:

Apart from repetition, they also air almost a week later. It is very annoying when guys are debating online on a certain interview which you have to wait for like 5-7days to watch. Then revive the already dead forum :) On Thu, Aug 23, 2012 at 12:19 PM, Odhiambo Washington <odhiambo@gmail.com>wrote:
I have asked myself this same question many times - I always wonder if they have ran out of programs!

Hello Skunks,
Am ignoring the fact that DSTV pays copyright rights to air all the programs we watch.
But how many times are they supposed to be repeating these programs considering every month i pay for a package and my surprise is i watch same programs over and over again.
I enjoy supersport though but on a bigger picture (besides soccer),do you experience the same?
my 2 cents
