Re: [Skunkworks] Facebook to buy out Mpesa

This wasn't supposed to start in Kenya, but somewhere in UK and US. (i.e where IBM & Vodafone meet.) and ends up in Kenya. May be it's a deal done, and the Facebook boss was in Kenya to prepare Kenyans psychologically for the news.

mpesa is not a separate company. so are they buying safaricom? as earlier said, this is not a true story Sent from Yahoo Mail on Android On Fri, 9 Sep, 2016 at 11:27, Kinpro Computers-All IT soutions via skunkworks<skunkworks@lists.my.co.ke> wrote: This wasn't supposed to start in Kenya, but somewhere in UK and US. Hello Guys, M-pesa is a vodafone product according to my knowledge, so if there is any buyout it should be between Vodafone and the 'buyer', note that m-pesa concept cannot work all over the world, the service will fold curtains in the south African market (means it will not work in most developed economies) but it is thriving in Bangladesh and India, same with Tanzania- in Egypt the uptake is also poor. Why are we listening to rumours when my colleague Eric and I were in a room interviewing Mark Zuckerberg and captured everything that Mark and his colleague told in these two articles? We did the actual interview, and that was the only time he spoke to media in Kenya. Yes, he wanted to understand how mobile money works for emerging markets. http://www.techweez.com/2016/09/01/zuckerberg-in-nairobi/ http://www.techweez.com/2016/09/02/ime-archibong-facebook-director-of-produc... The closest that can come out of this is an integration with a mobile money player, and it doesn't have to be Mpesa, most probably won't. Regards, Martin Gicheru Managing Editor at Techweez, No. 10.
