WiMAX depends on the Radio signal quality so it will depend on this aspect at your site. Otherwise I use Safaricom WiMAX at 5 locations so far and I am generally happy. -- Best regards, Odhiambo WASHINGTON, Nairobi,KE +254733744121/+254722743223 _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ Damn!!

Is it on a fixed payment plan? On Fri, Mar 18, 2011 at 9:14 PM, Odhiambo Washington <odhiambo@gmail.com>wrote:

Well, isn't download speed a factor of usage? Anyway, Safaricom can always give you utilization graphs if your router supports SNMP. They also have http://speedtest.safaricombusiness.co.ke where you can test your speeds. You may also use iperf if you need to get the true picture. -- Best regards, Odhiambo WASHINGTON, Nairobi,KE +254733744121/+254722743223 _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ Damn!!

they have even printed for me one, but for my clients, they work with time, come download whatever then leave, if the net is slow they leave for good. my Q is this how a dedicated net supposed to work or is there a way to test if you have a dedicated net am paying a whoping 34,000/= monthly unaccountable for. What did the graphs they printed for you show? Was your usage close to maximum.
If you have a 512K link with >= 20 users continuously using the net how much bandwidth would you expect each user to get? -- *./ TJ*

Hi I have the WiMax for home use, generally 1Mbps and am all smiles. Depending on your location and also the number of Wimax users around your area, the speeds are generally impressive. So for 20+ users, id say you are sorted with the 1Mbps option. Am not sure they still have 512kbps option. @Anthony, do you pay 34,000/- for a 512kbps service? This is too much. The price of a duplex 1Mbit should not be more than USD600 per month, so suggest that you shop around. The prices for a single STM-1 that providers bought almost 2 years ago, the pricing should have been on a reducing balance now. Try these companies and get a full assessment done before you commit : - AK - JTL Me thots. On Fri, Mar 18, 2011 at 10:10 PM, Anthony Kimani <kimanianthony@hotmail.com>wrote:
