Query about VoIP in Tanzania

Fellow Would anyone in the know please advice me on this. According a SIP service provider in Tanzania, a Tanzanian registered company having a cloud based PBX *example on AWS or closer home Angani (generally any cloud based outside Tanzania IP address space)* will have to pay international call rates on local Tanzania calls originated on the SIP trunk Is this true? -- Lusiola Brian |3 R 1 /-\ |\|

For so many of the independent providers yes. Getting interconnects is hell there. Takes forever so most of them end up doing local calls. Also it depends with where there server is hosted. If its local in TZ and they have interconnects with providers there then the rates will be local. If not then the costs are International. Phares, Thanks for the response. In summary I am not legally entitled to have a local SIP provider and host my SOHO IP PBX on AWS to provide for my local telco calls? *<RANT>* This is an anomaly or backward thinking to avoid call termination. The world is a global village and Telcos will soon bear the brunt of all internet based telephony providers despite their final attempts. *</RANT>* Thanks for this info.
