I remember mention of an app to compare fuel prices in the country real time, how did it go? i would love to know the cheapest / most expensive stations across board.... any links?

Shell seems to be the cheapest in my observation, second to those Estate petrol stations that give free Soap with every purchase over kshs. 500

Not sure this is of any use now.. considering fuel prices are now more or less regulated -- Josiah Mugambi 2010/12/16 Dennis Kioko <dmbuvi@gmail.com>

It is if youre running a fleet. a saving of Ksh 2 bob a liter will make all the difference on your bottom line. Plus we need a way of ensuring compliance, im thinkin a system that highlights in red those billing above the prescribed rates would make for a good policing strategy. There was a student from JKUAT who did such a system and presented it at the Strathmore bootcamp a few weeks ago. Will try and get his contacts. -- Thanks and Regards, Erick Njenga Nyachwaya, M: +254-725-008-790 <http://www.facebook.com/ErickNjenga> <http://www.twitter.com/ErickNjenga>

How are skunkers expecting to disseminate the information so as to benefit the populace, or are there many moneyed skunkers (like Kioko) who run "a fleet"?:) -- Best regards, Odhiambo WASHINGTON, Nairobi,KE +254733744121/+254722743223 _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ Damn!!

by the way, are there vehicles that actually tell you youve been given say 5 liters WITHIN THE CAR? cause im starting to think the next frontier will be nipping the liter and stretching it to the limit (lower limit). On Thu, Dec 16, 2010 at 12:39 PM, Odhiambo Washington <odhiambo@gmail.com>wrote:

You just have to "know" your car. With some testing, you get to learn how much you get out of it per litre, on what conditions as these vary with load, tyre pressure, driving style... -- Best regards, Odhiambo WASHINGTON, Nairobi,KE +254733744121/+254722743223 _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ Damn!!

im just imagining it would have been simpler to have another dial that shows, you have 3.5 liters, you have added 5 liters, your total is 8.5 liters. Imagine losing 2 liters a day for one year.... On Thu, Dec 16, 2010 at 12:52 PM, Odhiambo Washington <odhiambo@gmail.com>wrote:

Mitsubishi cars with the 4G64 engines have the fuel monitor. It is part of the MMCS (Sat Nav + entertainment functions). The Fuel monitor show one the litres in the tank and the distance one can travel with that fuel based on the average km/litre calculation which is done ever 1 minute. When in a jam the inefficiency shows eg 6km/litre .. when on a nice long stretch highway doing about 110km/h the consumption is much more efficient at 16km/litre or something

is it something that can be incorporated to the 4M40 Engine? On Thu, Dec 16, 2010 at 2:45 PM, Thomas Kibui <thomas.kibui@gmail.com>wrote:

Saw this on a VW I'd taken on exchange with a friend and I simply did not love that information. It felt rather painful to see those figures in a jam. -- Best regards, Odhiambo WASHINGTON, Nairobi,KE +254733744121/+254722743223 _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ Damn!!

I once saw some top gear race where the three were in these cars which could indicate their fuel use as the race progressed, I am sure the ECU's in modern rides have this data in some form. On the other matter; I think the main challenge of a fuel price tracker would be the part of updating it with data. Short of hiring a boda boda guy to go round every morning collecting this information, how else can u collect it? On Thu, Dec 16, 2010 at 12:52 PM, Odhiambo Washington <odhiambo@gmail.com>wrote:

Its simple really. How about doing it cabbies style. .... Go with a container at the gas station, ask the attendant to fill it up. then proceed to load it urself. 5lts bought...5lts confirmed! On Thu, Dec 16, 2010 at 1:01 PM, Peter Karunyu <pkarunyu@gmail.com> wrote:

That surely proves you are Bogi Benga:-) We can conceptualize the whole idea, produce the proto and get the damn thing mass produced in China, like the UoN wants to do with DVB-T2. -- Best regards, Odhiambo WASHINGTON, Nairobi,KE +254733744121/+254722743223 _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ Damn!!

The comical one was BENDA, IIRC. This one is his offshoot! Nondescript. -- Best regards, Odhiambo WASHINGTON, Nairobi,KE +254733744121/+254722743223 _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ Damn!!

hehehe.. may very well be a comic-musical fusion. but this by Odhis standards is nondescript! ;-) On Thu, Dec 16, 2010 at 2:13 PM, Odhiambo Washington <odhiambo@gmail.com>wrote:
