So $afcom has lauched a solar charged phone for about 3K. Interesting especially for guys without electricity *cough*The Entire Country*cough*. I began to wonder about the battery life thus the value of the entire package. AFAIK, if a battery for a mobile device is discharged and recharged frequently without the charge (almost) running out then that reduces the battery life. The phone will often be exposed to the sun thus it will recharge unless there is a switch to control this. Even if there is a switch, I assume solar charging will take longer than the average time so most users would just leave it on and let the phone recharge whenever it's exposed to the sun. If someone gets a hold of it, confirm/deny my wonders. O_O

@Wes, sorry I dont have the phone..... but am considering the *next innovation* that would really work in tech sector, guaranteed : chipo na kuku via sms? Why : chipo and kuku need no capacity and reliability nonsense while sms ( being a dumb and useless kind of UDP protocol ) is the most successful. Ama ? ... lol!

I wonder if saf considered security when thinking of this phone. Cops would probably not take it kindly if the report on how you lost your phone would be, i left it in the run to charge. On 8/11/09, aki <aki275@googlemail.com> wrote:

Exactly the same thing popped up in my head the second I saw this phone: Charging REQUIRES exposure to the sun. Exposure to sun = HEAT HEAT + Battery = Very Dead Battery Very Fast Frequent HEAT (and cooling) + Circuit Board = Very Degraded Circuit Board Very Fast Conclusion: Good Idea, Bone-headed application. 3K Wasted. Surely, they could have done better. Maybe Not. HL On Wed, Aug 12, 2009 at 2:41 PM, wesley kiriinya <kiriinya2000@yahoo.com>wrote:
