I was listening to the same on BBC Radio when I woke up this morning & thought to myself, "Which is more important? *Being seen doing work or actually delivering on the same *(no matter your location)?" On 28 February 2013 12:24, Peter Muchemi <pmuchemi@gmail.com> wrote:

Heard it on BBC yesterday. I fail to understand this. So they prefer spending thousands of dollars on meetings facilitation and transport and meal than do a proper videoconference :( They said that human interaction is needed but as the mediator said "there is human interaction is video-chat ?" One thing that is always overlooked is that remote working requires a lot of discipline. You'd be surprised how many people lack this On Thu, Feb 28, 2013 at 2:45 PM, TheBigBoss <thebigboss@peperuka.com> wrote:

Contrary to how bad it sounds on the Internet, it is not a complete ban but more of a rude encouragement to spend more time in the office and work with one another to fix the problems at the company. When it makes sense to work remotely they will still be able to do that. The idea was to get people back in the offices and help the company get back on track. It made no sense to Marissa that the company has been tanking for years and employees were just scrapping through the day.

Sadly, it is meant to be more important to deliver on time. But trust me on this one, the minute you provide a laptop with modem for internet and post paid line to a developer or any other field that can be done this way, even pay them on time via MPesa and ask him or her to deliver on time, 95% of the time they wont, so yep, we are back to sit down here 8 to 5 and work, since it seems you cannot work without being supervised. We have tried it time and time again, even gave the freedom to schedule meetings at their own convenience with client but nothing. All you get is unfinished work and a client who is frustrated. It requires loads of discipline which I can say very confidently and sadly lacks in a lot of people. On 28 February 2013 12:53, Michael Bullut <main@kipsang.com> wrote:

You've a point there my fellow Skunker... I reckon a company has the right to run the way it wishes, whether it means moving forward or backwards... On 28 February 2013 14:53, Jangita Nyagudi <jangita.nyagudi@gmail.com>wrote:
