Virtual machines

Hello, I am currently having a problem getting data from a computer running windows 7 but hosting a virtual machine running XP, the data on the XP virtual machine i fear might have been accidentally deleted by the client, is there a way of recovering this data? Secondly, is there a fix to use quickbooks 2006 on windows 7? An undelete program should be able to recover the vm especially if the client has not saved files into the deleted sectors. Have you tried Windows compatibility mode to run quick books ?
