Yep! and if you read some more.. you'll come across "So why is the biggest of big business switching to Linux from Windows and Unix? It’s the three “Ss”: speed, security, and stability." :D On 15 February 2011 23:36, Patrick Kariuki <patrick.kariuki@gmail.com>wrote:

You've got to love the three "Ss" Now that the Germans are buying the NYSE and probably switching (already Linux-based) systems to the Linux-based Xetra stock exchange platform exchanges. The South Africans should buy the NSE and have it move to Millennium Exchange(Linux-based).. more jobs for FOSS support/sysadmins/developers in Kenya. No Wait! is this the part where Microsoft Kenya advices the Govt. that by using free software they're reducing GDP? On 2/16/11, Andrew Wachira <washirah@gmail.com> wrote:

Seriously Singh, we know better than to entrust the NSE with a Windows-based trading system, its just a matter of time.

The NSE has actually been running on one of Millenium Exchange Solaris based systems since 2007. Same to the Mauritius SE. The JSE will just be following the two. The LSE group bought Millenium Information Technology which builds the trading system and it was only a matter of time before the switch. The JSE had their system hosted in London by the LSE so the customers benefit too with a matching engine closer home and a better platform. The risk is much less. cheers.
