Hasn't these options been discussed here a zillion times?:-) Data plans are universal whether you use an iPad or a laptop, so just copy/paste what has been discussed here already. -- Best regards, Odhiambo WASHINGTON, Nairobi,KE +254733744121/+254722743223 _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ "If you have nothing good to say about someone, just shut up!." -- Lucky Dube

Yes, the iPad is just another internet capable device, just like your phone and PC, so all data plans on earth are usable. If its a Wi-Fi only , a Mi-Fi device works magic so u don't have to depend on commercial Wi-Fi which in Kenya are are reliable as the Kenya Railways trains. ./Ok3ch On Mon, Oct 11, 2010 at 2:34 PM, Odhiambo Washington <odhiambo@gmail.com> wrote:

Define "internet plan" If you are talking about a 'wireless' internet provider; pls get a microsim, the cheapest option and stay with Safaricom 3G. Wireless are usually free if you can get the password. Then tell him to wait until Orange and Zain unleashes their cheaper 3G -- and move there. Then wait until Safaricom unleashes their 4G - and end the wild-bits migration.

Is iPad LTE-capable already or why did you suggest Safaricom 4G? -- Best regards, Odhiambo WASHINGTON, Nairobi,KE +254733744121/+254722743223 _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ "If you have nothing good to say about someone, just shut up!." -- Lucky Dube

Yeah, 4G,,, dont know if Safcom's LTE will be truly 4G (21mbps); because i think i read somewhere that for the technology to be called 4G; its should support 100mbps ?? However, a few solutions before the 4G iPad are available if you wanna go 4G: ==== Want super-fast wireless Internet access for your iPad<http://www.businessinsider.com/blackboard/ipad>, iPod touch, or iPhone <http://www.businessinsider.com/blackboard/iphone>, and don't want to rely on AT&T's pokey network? Wireless provider Clearwire<http://www.businessinsider.com/blackboard/clearwire> has a new gadget out today that could be especially useful for iPad owners who live in the Clearwire's limited 4G wireless zone: The new iSpot base station<http://www.clear.com/spot/ispot?intcmp=1DaySp:HomePage:Carousel>, which provides unlimited 4G access for up to 8 Apple wi-fi devices for just $25 per month, with no contract or overage charges Read more: http://www.businessinsider.com/ipad-4g-access-cheap-clearwire-goes-after-app...

Yes, I think I did; In short what i was saying :iPad does not have 4G capabilities, but you can take advantage of 4G by buying such a dongle (which am sure the Chinese will provide a copy soon) ; cheaper than buying an iPad 4G one/two yrs from now. [?]

One small difference - you can't top up using SMS with your iPad and you can't take out the SIM and use it in a regular phone as it is a microSIM. So the answer would be - get a post paid plan. On 10/11/2010 02:34 PM, Odhiambo Washington wrote:

The Micro-SIM from Safaricom comes with an adapter that allows you to use the card in any device that uses a Mini-SIM. ~gms

Jonas, When well positioned, the microsim works just like your normal sim. I have done this a couple of times while helping a client. I have also migrated most to prepaid plans where payment is via MPESA or any other payment solution eg Sambaza. Works perfect. Alright, did not know Safaricom offered microSIMs. Thanks for the info. I would still go for postpaid to avoid the hassle of having to take out the card every now and then. Hard to activate a bundle using MPesa or Sambaza. Or will I learn two new things today? But I guess it all comes down to how much you use it. On 10/11/2010 08:19 PM, Peter Osotsi wrote:
