If you read clearly, its pure speculation - kinda the way a lady "feels". Its not tied to sales or the reality of current profits. Well, speculators (the kind that "buy" digital oil without ever seeing a drop thus inflating "real" oil price) currently feel Apple is the future, but when you look at the current real market value, M$FT is still a Juggernaut! Wait until malware start migrating to Apple, or Steve Jobs ..... , this capitalization thing will evaporate overnight. Its the reality. Sorry Apple fans, its economics stupid! A little tech and economics keeps an Apple at bay. KP On Tue, Jun 7, 2011 at 9:45 AM, David Kiania | Asentric Consulting Ltd < kianiadee@gmail.com> wrote:

Windows 8 is proving to be the "killer" OS that M$ would have developed in

M$ has cloud deployments for office 2010, space of upto 25GB "cloud", far
more than the 7GB from Google, and so on. Theirs is poor marketing and a poor platform - "LIVE". But they have improved a lot since those days.

Exactly. Never mind they can pay whomever they want to do whatever they want at whatever cost. Microsoft will survive in the technology ecosystem for a long time, you only need to look at the trading trends on Wall street and the other products they have in their stable. As for apple, it might just be a cancerous growth.

Microsoft is still a great company. But what most of you are talking about are vapourware, products that have not shipped and are supposed to be the killer. Windows 8, Phone 8 are all products of tomorrow, but iOS, iPhone are products that have been in the market for sometime. What Apple is building in an ecosystem, something Microsoft does not get. People will be able to start working on a document on their Macs and finishing it up on their iPads on the way home without doing anything. You content, music and contacts will appear mystically in all the devices you sign in. Can Microsoft beat that? I will be the first one to admit that Apple did not invent the cloud, but they were the ones who seem to get it and what it is supposed to be. Apple sells lifestyles and culture, Microsoft sells products. And that the difference. This year Apple will also surpass Microsoft in terms on revenue and profitability. True Microsoft is not going anywhere, but it will have to fight to stay in the game.

@phares; The team at Microsoft clarified that Windows 8 is a new re-engineered product, not a new skin on Windows 7. I understand Mac users will rejoice when usage of Mac's improves to maybe 40%, which is appearing in my horizon, by the way. As many people know about iOS, they become comfortable using a Mac. Many people I know are already inquiring or buying Mac's (esp the Macbook range). The tech world today is in a great transition, I don't know to where. I can only wait. Some of us have to reinvent daily to keep abreast. Seems at some point, no one will notice the difference between a Mac, Windows and Linux. Thats how Microsoft will loose. But the company has a number of products most of us have never heard of, or will never hear of unless you deploy an array of systems periodically in diverse industries. Apple's ecosystem is still limited, but with the incoming $$$$$, they may just do something to shake the market. Yet Microsoft is going nowhere - even if a large fire engulfs Redmond. How many people here own stock in either company? Bashing each other over which camp one belongs to is rather short sighted no? Both are great companies with different strategies . Some products are monumental failures others are pure genius. Saying the Redmond guys are going to crash and burn is like predicting that Safaricom will come to its demise because Airtel and Orange exist. . . .It ain't over until the fat lady sings. I have never understood markets, and as pointed out above, never understood how some burger who does not own a wheat factory, a wheat farm or a wheat flour distributor or shop determines how much a wheat farmer is paid for their wheat. Heck, isnt it the same market where early investors cash out of their businesses by promising speculative investors that stupid business practices (read rolling out fiber in affluent estates) will give them more value? But who am I to question something that has been working before I was born and will continue working after I die
