I can't believe Kenyans think Swahili is cumbersome and impractical!! I'm not the most fluent Swahili speaker but I blame it on excessive emphasis on English in our education system. I remember we used to be punished with the dreaded "disc" if we were caught speaking Swahili by our primary school teachers. Way to promote the national language! I still think Swahili is a good language, it's just that most of us are poor at it. A very good cause but coming at a cost. I don't think trying to force everything into Swahili is the only way to promote it. That cannot be very productive. On the same note, it should be noted that the media has done a great job on the same. That must have been working. The Swahili news bulletins are as good as the English ones.
