Adobe Thread Opening Ceremony.

Welcome to the Adobe Thread on Skunkworks. As a beginning, please let me know what you would like to discuss on this thread. We will feature the following on this thread every week in addition to the topics we pick here. * Top News :* The Adobe Museum of Digital Media (AMDM) is a unique virtual space designed to showcase and preserve groundbreaking digital work and to present expert commentary on how digital media influences culture and society. The museum is an ever-changing repository of eclectic exhibits from diverse fields ranging from photography to product development to broadcast communications. To inspire fresh conversation on the constantly evolving digital landscape, exhibits are overseen by guest curators, each of whom is a recognized leader in the field of art, technology, or business. The AMDM is a space unlike any created before. Because it is entirely digital, it is an ideal gallery for displaying and viewing digital media, as well as revealing the innovation and artistry within the work. It is open to the public 365 days a year and is accessible from anywhere in the world. About the structure The building itself was designed by Italian architect Filippo Innocenti, a master of fluid urban designs for large, public installations. Innocenti collaborated closely with award-winning designer Piero Frescobaldi, who served as the "building contractor" for construction of the virtual space. Adobe is proud to serve as patron on the project. The inaugural exhibit The museum's first exhibit, scheduled to open August 2010, will feature work by Tony Oursler, a New York artist whose explorations in moving images and digital communications have been featured in museums on both U.S. coasts, as well as in Spain and New Zealand. The exhibit will be curated by Tom Eccles, executive director of the Center for Curatorial Studies at Bard College. Eccles was formerly director of the Public Art Fund in New York City, where he curated more than 100 exhibitions and organized outdoor projects in collaboration with numerous institutions including the Museum of Modern Art, the Whitney Museum, and the New Museum. Become a member when you visit the AMDM and enjoy special interviews with curators and artists, advance viewings of exhibits, access to seminars, and exclusive events. http://www.adobe.com/adobemuseum/ *New Technology : *Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 3 software for Windows and Macintosh The essential digital photography workflow solution that allows photographers to quickly organize, enhance and showcase their images from one application is available now. First released as a public beta in October 2009, the final version of Lightroom 3 introduces a completely redesigned performance architecture that better handles growing image libraries and provides an unrivaled raw processing engine with noise reduction and sharpening tools to achieve the highest image quality *Q&A *Please feel free to ask. -- watchman

Adobe Premier: The last time I used this to render a six minute video, took about 4 hours (2006) ; Any idea what the latest versions rendering times are with a duo-core, 2gb mem ?

Hi Stephen, With regards to the Processing, if you're working with CS5, depends on what you're trying to output but with my machine as an example, i've got a 512MB VGA Card from Nvidia. 8GB RAM And output of a HD video 6Min took me about 10 Mins. File size was 10GB. CS5 has revolutionized a lot regarding specifically the core processing power. watchman On 7/26/10 8:34 PM, ndungu stephen wrote:

Watchie, I take ur using some version of MacOs right? If your answer is yes, that would mean thats its not limited to the 3GB RAM limit i often here cited for 32 bit windows? Forgive my ignorance, but is there a 64bit MacOs? On Tue, Jul 27, 2010 at 10:48 AM, [watchman] <skunkingrahim@gmail.com>wrote:

Mac OS X Snow Leopard (10.6) is a 64-bit OS capable of running both 32-bit and 64-bit applications. Not sure if Adobe CS5 is a 64-bit application.

@Glenn, great! Will put you down for September threads. Cheers and thnks. :-) On Tue, Jul 27, 2010 at 2:44 PM, Glenn Sequeira <gsequeira@gmail.com> wrote:

I don't mind, but it would have to be in September. Is this ok?

To add on. Applications like Photoshop, After Effects are already 64Bit. And with Windows this has been 64Bit with windows since CS4. Premiere will follow suite soon as will other app's however to date the most memory intensive app's have been After Effects and Photoshop. watchman On 7/27/10 11:32 AM, Glenn Sequeira wrote:

No ignorance brother. I'm using Mac OS X 10.6 and it is as of the launch of Snow Leopard Multi Core Technology which yes is 64Bit. I am not restricted to 3GB. with 32 Bit windows and 3GB Of RAM, you should be able to render HD within about 40 Mins. This being that you have nothing else running in the background. Though ideally, the Adobe Pro range has been created to run up to 2 Pro applications at the same time. watchman On 7/27/10 10:51 AM, Peter Karunyu wrote:
