After reading this article, I'm now convinced that no new site should be written with any browser less than IE8 in mind: http://arstechnica.com/information-technology/2013/10/internet-explorer-6-us... Anybody else have thoughts on no longer thinking about IE6 or IE7? -Adam -- Kili.io - OpenStack for Africa: kili.io Musings: twitter.com/varud <https://twitter.com/varud> About Adam: www.linkedin.com/in/adamcnelson

Up-to-speed designers haven't been designing websites with IE6 or IE7 in mind for a while now. That includes IE8 as well. With the likes of Chrome frame http://www.google.com/chromeframe and PIE plugin http://css3pie.com/ you don't have to worry about the different versions of IE unless your app is using more "seriously" advanced JS hacks. ----- Original Message ----- | From: "Adam Nelson" <adam@varud.com> | To: "Skunkworks Mailing List" <skunkworks@lists.my.co.ke> | Sent: Miércoles, 2 de Octubre 2013 8:38:40 | Subject: [Skunkworks] IE8 minimum??? | After reading this article, I'm now convinced that no new site should | be written with any browser less than IE8 in mind: | http://arstechnica.com/information-technology/2013/10/internet-explorer-6-us... | Anybody else have thoughts on no longer thinking about IE6 or IE7? | -Adam | -- | Kili.io - OpenStack for Africa: kili.io | Musings: twitter.com/varud | About Adam: www.linkedin.com/in/adamcnelson | _______________________________________________ | skunkworks mailing list | skunkworks@lists.my.co.ke | ------------ | List info, subscribe/unsubscribe | http://lists.my.co.ke/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/skunkworks | ------------ | Skunkworks Rules | http://my.co.ke/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=24&t=94 | ------------ | Other services @ http://my.co.ke

Since I rely allot on CSS3 on most websites that I design, I had to make a decision to place a script to block out any IE browsers less than version 9 on a number of those websites and they would be redirected to a page that requested them to either upgrade their IE browser or simply switch to Mozilla or Chrome. Not to sound lazy, but this really made work for me easier since I didn't have to worry about compatibility issues with those ancient browsers. IE is the worst nightmare of any web developer. If it works properly on ALL browsers, it will most probably fail on IE :) On Wed, Oct 2, 2013 at 12:18 PM, Edwin Nguku <edwinnguku@gmail.com> wrote:
