This is just an idea and but I was thinking what if skunks was able to collect funds to be used to take up legal matters that affect ICT. Case in point is the case of safaricon being brought down by Kenic. Whether you are for or against it the matter does bring up certain pertinent issues regarding free speech and the Internet in Kenya. If we had a volunteer legal team or a funds kitty we could address the matter in court. For those saying that we should not go against the big dogs I'd say remember they are driven to make profits and not social well being and rule of law. Just my 3 otonglos on the matter.

I think this is a wonderful idea. May be even develop a framework for skunks to formally address matters in ICT. It's long overdue and absolutely vital to the dev't of ICT in Kenya. We must step up to the plate. Tony Olendo P.O. I agree. a better route IMHO would be to partner with an organization thats been doing this kind of stuff, like Kituo Cha sheria and having some sort of interpreter and compiler to enhance communication between the two... Jacob, you should have attended the KENIC AGM, dispute resolution was discussed at length by the Company Secretary and members present gave their input as well, the new constitution encourages the use of institutional structures to resolve such issues, lets make informed moves KENIC is Public Private Partnership, as a private entity i have a stake in the registry, why should i take myself to court if there is another way of resolving the issue which i havent tried ?, see the predicament? Peter, Keep your "hard earned" money to yourself. There are people who opt to make a stand against bullying and rectifying what they deem unfair business practice. I can bet you sooner or later as a business owner you'll have one of those. "Those who would give up Essential Liberty to purchase a little Temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety." I think just to set the correct precedent, litigation should happen. were it that negotiation was a valid option the complainant (in this case queen bee) should have followed suit and lodged a complaint. (unless of course this was done in which case the story would be different. Go on amanya, have these guys sue for loss of income, malacious damage to property (reputation in this case), irreversible curtailment to constitutionally protected freedom of expressions and all and demand for a 26.9B compensation (to pay big lawyers when queen bee strikes back.... Hi All Yesterday, I finally got to speak to Priscilla, the Kituo cha Sheria Executive Director, about this. She is very interested in this but suggested that we need to get the actual reason as to why the website was taken down. In this regard does anyone know how to get in touch with the person(s) behind the website? regards amanya On Wed, Jun 29, 2011 at 14:53, Barrack Otieno <otieno.barrack@gmail.com>wrote:
