Touch ID is a game changer & it's implementation IMHO especially when it gets it's way on the iPad will be limitless in a multiuser environment. The 64bit part is a wow for technical enthusiasts - am sure it is now going to be a benchmark for all future phone releases. They talked for so long about the camera & still failed to tell us the magic number, the megapixels, but still a great improvement.
Oh & the iPhone5C is not plastic, it's a polycarbonate - hehehe, new name for plastic, I guess!
& the gold 64bit 64GB iPhone5S is mine, no one should book it ;-)

As was widely predicted even after denials by Tim Cook a cheaper iPhone was churned out. Nothing to call home about though in my opinion as it has precisely the same specs as the iPhone 5, only more plastic.
The touch id fingerprint thing is due though and in my opinion is the killer feature. If it works as advertised then it takes exclusivity to a whole new level. Owning the phone is that much more personal.

Fingerprint scanner - A definite wow factor. On this one, everyone else will play catch up. However, for the first time I don't think iPhone should be compared to the likes of S4 or HTC One any more. It just doesn't match up. If only the fanboys (and girls) would dare check out what's out there http://www.androidauthority.com/iphone-5s-vs-android-specs-comparison-galaxy... There is a point at which "value" has to be quantified. Initially it was the OS being superior than the competition, the competition matched up. Next it was the app ecosystem, something Apple still has an edge when it comes to tablets. The competition matched up in the smartphone arena. Remember the retina display? It was a big deal then. The iphone 5s ppi is embarrassing, compared to what 2013 is offering. The build quality - here it beats most android phones, except, of course, HTC, and few others. At this point, I am tempted to say *it is the customers creating value for an inferior product*. Period. On Wed, Sep 11, 2013 at 9:12 AM, Okechukwu <okechukwu@gmail.com> wrote:

Apple doesn't really play the specs game. There are a lot of phones with better specs that iPhones, but the iPhones strength comes from the tight integration between software and hardware. In fact, in terms on memory, the iPhone has around 512 MB or 1 GB, and yet it performs better than most other phones with 2 or 4 times the memory. There is no use in comparing specs. Same as with the camera. The megapixel battle is worthless, as the quality of pictures is determined by other factors such as the sensor. So a 8 MP camera can actually be better than a 42 MP camera. A lot of features usually found on the newer Android phones are totally unnecessary, ahead of their time or poorly implemented and after the fad, the fade away. I think the Touch ID is revolutionary. I waste a lot of time typing passwords and passcodes on the iPhone. Now I will just swipe my finger and in a millisecond I am in. Siri is also performing very well on iOS 7, a major improvement and though no refined, this can another feature with a lot of potential. Musyoki, That's really uninformed. So basically iPhone never had pattern unlock? Do you know android has face unlock? I will give iphone a big thumbs up on the fingerprint. Especially the way they intend to integrate it with online purchases, etc. As for performance vs RAM, clearly you have not used these phones. As in the likes of S4 and LG G2 are really fast. One of the major challenges in Android has been the lags that has been cured from Android 4.3 (via fstrim). I was amazed at how many "revolutionary" features were introduced in iOS 7 yet they have been with the rest of us for ages. Hw/sw integration? Really?? Next it was the app ecosystem, something Apple still has an edge when it comes to tablets. The competition matched up in the smartphone arena.
Remember the retina display? It was a big deal then. The iphone 5s ppi is embarrassing, compared to what 2013 is offering.
The build quality - here it beats most android phones, except, of course, HTC, and few others.
At this point, I am tempted to say it is the customers creating value for an inferior product. Period.

Fingerprint scanner - A definite wow factor. On this one, everyone else will play catch up.
However, for the first time I don't think iPhone should be compared to the likes of S4 or HTC One any more. It just doesn't match up.
If only the fanboys (and girls) would dare check out what's out there

I'm not a fan of Apple but I have to admit Apple still sets trends. Notice anything new in smartphones always starts with apple. All other makers simply play catch up. My question is why wasn't any of the other phone makers brave enough to include a biometric scanner? Its not that its new tech. Now that Apple has done it you will see all others scramble to catch up and hope to release a better scanner. ----- Original Message ----- | From: "Bwana Lawi" <mail2lawi@gmail.com> | To: "Skunkworks Mailing List" <skunkworks@lists.my.co.ke> | Sent: Miércoles, 11 de Septiembre 2013 7:49:30 | Subject: Re: [Skunkworks] iPhone 5S & iPhone 5c | Originally, yes, it was that way. Shocked that the iPhone 5C is Ksh. 48,000 without taxes, or maybe that's just in the US and it will be cheaper in developing countries?
