I struggle to see how the push for a .eac TLD can be successful without the death of regional country domains such as .ke, .tz, .ug, .rw Is that the way we want to go? and what about the push for .africa? http://dotafrica.blogspot.com/

The obvious flaw in that parallel would be that .uk .de .fr etc were at a much more advanced level when .eu launched as compared to .ke .ug .rw etc are now when we are talking about .eac On top of that you'd have .eac fighting it out with .africa. what would be the impact of .eu fighting .europe? Finally - the impact of .eu has been negligible as far as SEO is concerned anyway. If you are looking for a house in France what advantage does it have getting results from Netherlands? you rather search google.fr rather than a hypothetical google.eu However, my central concern is that for .eac to thrive .ke would have to die!

as a matter of fact i fail to see the need to retain .ke .ug and the rest if a unified .eac can accord the needed volumes to drive down prices. approx 07 USD. On Sat, Aug 14, 2010 at 9:12 PM, Daudi Were <daudi.were@gmail.com> wrote:

I see room for both TcLD and the .eac domain lets take a business that operates in Kenya and another that operates in East Africa. The use of the of .eac would be better for the latter and more palatable to the Tanzanians who for most of the time feel like Kenyans are pulling the ground off their feet. What is important is education to users of how Google localises the domains to avoid someone operating in Mandera only adopting a .eac . As a guard, we can even deliberately set .eac to cost a litle bit higher than the TcLDs -- with Regards: sitting next to engineers can have some positive feedback: http://gramware.blogspot.com/2010/08/positive-feedback.html

I personally don't think its a big deal its not like .ke is hot stuff right now.

Without killing, but to the detriment of .... Most people there seem to prefer .EU, which means that with time, only those who have strings tied to non .EU will retain those names. The rest will switch. OTOH, I don't really see how .eac will help change the landscape when a company/entity only operates in one country. I'd rather be a .KE anytime! -- Best regards, Odhiambo WASHINGTON, Nairobi,KE +254733744121/+254722743223 _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ "If you have nothing good to say about someone, just shut up!." -- Lucky Dube
