We scaling down costs....if IT gonna leverage to sme's then..open source is the way forward. Acquisition of unnecessary software licenses and subsequent renewals hinder growth in small institutions, that's why open source matters nowadays... Am looking forward to open source. Java and Mysql PHP and Mysql or any other open source platform or the same Micheal you can still advice otherwise... what's your platform and also subsequent software requirements...
I had a look at Fedena...a great application but the essence of Finance module is not well clear....i guess its not that complete...any one who has locally managed to install Fedena locally

Why not hire someone to customize fedena to your tastes? Isn't that the essence of Open source. If it meets 70 -0 80% of your requirements, you can do the rest on your own.
