I don't get why gotv is not making the channel lists for all there packages publicly available. As much as I want natgeo wild I would like to know what is the tradeoff. GoTV has over 90 channels, including SS9 and SS-East. That's enough as I don't spend a lot of time on telly. As for the rest of Super Sports, I can watch them in the neighboring watering hole on bigger screen than mine. For the news, im at home on GoTV. My kids can do with the numerous cartoon networks, the animal channels while thatcher can do with afrosinema (Africa magic - several channels) and the numerous movie channels. See, GoTV is just right for me and everyone else at home. The only thing is the Led TV seems to consume more power (heats up), I fear it might die soon (still new!) before I scoop my investment back. Yes, they started with 20 channels, due to competition, they've been upping the offerings, you can check from their website (Oooohhh Google! Where at though?). Quality depends on whether you can improve on their antennae (si hata the satellite dish has to be positioned well to have clarity?), but the supplied antennae should work well within Nairobi metropolitan area and the other two major towns. Sorry everyone should have mislead by the over 90 figure, I dont watch too much TV so have no idea, however, I have networked mine such that I have many channels at my disposal, both from FTA dish and the GoTV. Uzee inakaa inaanza kunimaliza.

There are at least 2 or 3 FTA's on GoTV, check the list. Intergrating your connections is simple though I did that in my free time, I use my free time to experiment. Probably you could you could also start by using your free time to experiment on what works, what doesn't work. A while back this was handled in Skunkworks.

Hey Skunks, Lets be honest, with a GoTV/StarTimes decoder, the only FTA (currently in Kenya) is KBC TV. I have never understood why all the local channels that make profit through commercials aren't yet classified as FTA. That's a huge rip-off! I did a small comparison on the FTAs from the 5 African Countries that GoTV support (My interest lies solemnly on FTA channels) Here's what I found out (from the GoTV website): *NIGERIA* NTA+ (FTA), Silverbird (FTA), AIT (FTA), Channels (FTA), MiTV (FTA), Lagos TV (FTA) *KENYA* KBCTV (FTA) *NAMIBIA* ZNBC (FTA) *UGANDA (FTA)* Uganda Broadcasting Corporation (FTA) *ZAMBIA* ZNBC* *(FTA) With the above analysis, only Nigeria enjoys more than 5 FTA channels, which means the rest of the countries that have GoTV are stuck with their National Channels if one fails to pay for the monthly subscription. *I'M NOT A TV FAN, OR EVEN HAVE AN UNDERSTAND ON HOW CHANNELS ARE CLASSIFIED AS FTAs, *but I thought all local channels that make a penny through ads should be FTAs. *KENYA* KBCTV (FTA)

*NAMIBIA* ZNBC (FTA)

With the above analysis, only Nigeria enjoys more than 5 FTA channels, which means the rest of the countries that have GoTV are stuck with their National Channels if one fails to pay for the monthly subscription. *I'M NOT A TV FAN, OR EVEN HAVE AN UNDERSTAND ON HOW CHANNELS ARE CLASSIFIED AS FTAs, *but I thought all local channels that make a penny through ads should be FTAs.

*I think* the idea of a slot is to decrypt the encrypted signals, but using the idea of FTA channels you would not require a card unless you wanted to watch the encrypted channels and would therefore acquire a card from the particular vendor. I think the other stations charge akina Startimes because StarTimes also charge for the same, or place them in chargeable bouquets.

I am that spoilt kid who got Startimes free for 3 months including the decoder but never utilised it. Now I got Gotv plus and I'm yet to start using it. I had the chance to compare the two offerings but still cant. Lemme shop for a tv first as discussed in the other string. Now that GOtv brought their long-awaited bouquet to KE at KES 850 monthly, I'd like to hear what the GOtv-ers in this forum think. I resubscribed yesterday after a 3-month hiatus and I think I love some of the new channels especially NatGeo Wild. There are others, but I hate to watch repeats still, but given prior explanations on this list, I believe repeats are very much part of the business. 10 new channels added, with a few interesting ones. Question is whether we are getting a good deal at KES 850.
